Even so if you pay attention to the subtext (specially in chapter 3 and 4), you may notice that 1 dot it's for minimum physical "defects" (like crooked teeth in the case of Theo and Thomas), and 3 dots it's for crimes (like it's said about Lug in the first pages of Chapter 3). There is no info yet about 2 dots, but for now it's not important for now. The whole thing about dots it's meant to be fully explained at Chapter 6.
