An Alaskan Proposal

A sweet commission piece for two girlfriends. ;u; I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

__________

 “It’s just up ahead.”
Shino led her girlfriend to the Ketchikan Region beach with a smile.  When she and Lyka turned the corner, a beautiful sunset awaited them, perched right above the ocean.
Lyka gasped.  “Oh Shino!” the wolf-fox exclaimed, her cerulean eyes sparkling.  “It’s beautiful.”
Shino smiled.  “Let’s go enjoy it, love,” the snow leopard said, taking Lyka’s hand.
The two went down to the beach, walking near the waves as they came in and out of the sea and onto the surface.  Kayakers paddled in the waters, but the couple barely noticed them, as they were so swept up in each other’s company.  Together they walked, surrounded by Alaskan beauty.
“This went absolutely perfectly,” Shino said, squeezing Lyka’s hand.  She smiled, and turned to the wolf-fox.  “I’m so glad you were able to visit.”
“Me too,” Lyka said.
The snow leopard sighed.  “I don’t think things can get much better than this.”
Lyka smiled, and felt the ring case in her pocket.  Oh, things were going to get better.  If things went as planned, that is.
“You’ve always been there for me, Shino,” the wolf-fox began, standing up from the picnic table.  “And I’ve always loved you for that.”
“Oh stop.”  The snow leopard giggled, her gold-green eyes shining with laughter.
“I’m serious,” Lyka said.  She grinned, looking back at all the memories.  “You’re an amazing LARPer, your cooking skills have saved my ass more times than I can count, and your singing voice!  It’s angelic, babe.”
Shino laughed shyly.  “That’s really sweet of you to say,” she said.  She turned to Lyka and squeezed her hand.  “You’ve always been there for me too.  And you’re an amazing person.  I love your art and your poetry—and finding out somebody loved Japanese culture as much as I do was /amazing/.  Not to mention you travelling all the way down here to see me!  Not everybody would do that.”
“Well, I do it because I love you.”  Lyka stopped walking, and Shino did too, confused.  The wolf-fox turned to her partner with a genuine smile.  “I love you so much, Shino Umera.  I’m so happy you came into my life, and I don’t want that to end.  So. . .”
She reached into her pocket and pulled out the ring case.  Shino gasped at the sight, and Lyka smiled.  The wolf-fox dropped to her knees and opened the ring case, showing the engagement ring in all its glory.

“Shino, will you marry me?”
The snow leopard gasped.  “Oh Lyka!”  She fell to the ground and clasped her hands around her mate, hugging her tight.  “Yes, yes, a million times yes!”
Lyka let out a huge sigh, and a few tears ran down her face.  She had known her girlfriend would say yes, but now that it had happened!  It was remarkable, and beautiful.
The wolf-fox gave Shino the engagement ring, and the snow leopard quickly put it on.  “It’s beautiful,” she whispered.  She turned to Lyka, and smooched her girlfriend on the cheek.  “Thank you.”
Lyka smiled, and turned to Shino.  The two shared a proper kiss.
“I love you, Shino.”
“I love you too, Lyka.”
