_________

Wolffy watched the stars with a dejected sigh.  The gray wolf had been having a hard time lately—life felt meaningless and empty, like there was a part of him missing.  He was having such a hard time putting a finger on it, and it was really bugging the poor canine.
His tail twitching, Wolffy stared at the sky.  Suddenly, he noticed there was a shooting star passing by!  He had to make a wish!  Perhaps that would help his problems—or, at the very least, it would help him feel a little bit better.
So he said into the sky, “I wish I had a new life, or that my lifestyle would change.”  He sighed.  “Maybe that would make me happy.”
And he didn’t know it then, but the sky heard him.
Not too long after his wish, the wolf stood up and walked back to his home.  After cleaning up, he got into bed, and went to sleep.
_________
When Wolffy woke up, everything felt relatively normal.  All his things were right where he left them, his apartment was the same as yesterday, and he felt just fine.
But little did he know that something had changed. . .
The canine got out of bed and got himself ready to face the Saturday and relax.  After a short time in the bathroom, he got some breakfast and grabbed his things.  Then he left the house.
It was when he was walking to the park that he started to notice the differences.  He was strolling along, just minding his own business, when a fox passed him by, chatting on the phone.  Wolffy glanced over at him, and found the canine gaze lingering, noticing how handsome the other animal was: how the fox had a beautiful auburn streak through his gel-shaped hair, and a lovely smile that danced up and down as he talked on the phone.  And lips that he oh so badly wanted to kiss. . .
The moment only lasted a few seconds.  But for Wolffy, everything slowed down as his heart filled with desires he had never felt before.  And when the fox passed him by, he found himself turning around, staring at the other man.
Then he caught himself, and quickly faced forward, continuing his walk.  /What’s wrong with me?!/ he wondered to himself.  /I’ve never thought anything like this before!  Why am I acting like this?  This is strange. . ./
He scratched his chin.  /Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or my brain’s still in dream mode.  That has to be it, right?  Otherwise. . . Well, no, it can’t be that.  This is so weird. . .!/
Wolffy continued his walk, trying his best to mind his own business as he made his way to the park.  But as he went about, he passed by more and more guys, and each time, he couldn’t help but notice how handsome they were. . .
There was the golden retriever who had the cutest ears and piercings.  There was the lion with such a fabulous mane and gorgeous tail.  There was the goat with the hearty laugh and cool as hell horns.  And so, so many more men that he passed by, that the wolf couldn’t help but admire.
Each time, the canine found himself getting redder and redder with embarrassment, until by the tenth guy, his face was completely flushed crimson.  /What is WRONG with me?!/ he asked himself, trying to avert his eyes from the cute possum he was passing by.  /Why am I thinking like this—I’ve never thought like this before!  This has to be a dream . . . doesn’t it?/
Finally, the wolf reached the park.  At first, he let out a big sigh of relief—finally, no more of these strange feelings would occur!  But then he realized just how many people were there . . . and among them were /a bunch/ of handsome guys. . .
Well shit.  He fast walked his way around the park, trying to find a desolate spot, his face still as red as before.  But no matter how hard he tried, every area in the park had at least somebody there, and it always seemed to have at least one adult male somebody, too.  He would have to settle for a populated area.
So Wolffy finally decided to snag a spot under a tree, leaning against the trunk and trying to relax.  The area he decided on wasn’t as crowded as the other ones, but a bunch of burly guys were still playing frisbee not far off.  And he found it very hard to take his eyes off of them. . .
The canine groaned.  /What’s wrong with me?/ he thought, scratching his head.  /Why on earth am I acting this way?/
The thought his Wolffy like a brick.  It was so obvious, he was surprised it took this long for him to think of it!  /I’m gay?/ he realized suddenly, putting a hand to his head.  /Or I’m gay . . . now?  Or maybe I always was?  Augh, THIS IS SO CONFUSING!/
He sighed and put his head in his hands.  /Well, I did wish for a new life last night/, he remembered, thinking of his wish on the shooting star.  /Maybe I got my wish.  Maybe my attraction is due to that.  And maybe . . . it’s something I can be ok with./
He looked up, staring over at the guys playing frisbee.  He couldn’t deny there was a strong pull to guys now that he hadn’t really felt before.  And though it was very embarrassing . . . there was something, well, /beautiful/ about it too.
And maybe it was something to embrace.
He smiled and stood up from his spot at the tree.  This was a new life for him now.  And he was going to make the absolute most of it.
“Hey, guys!  Mind if I join the frisbee game?”
