Hello June! πΌπ A Little Newsletter to You + my plans for this month πβ¨

Right now itβs a beautiful sunny day and Iβm sitting in a cozy sun spot while I write this to you π Itβs supposed to be rainy & cloudy for the rest of the week so Iβm enjoying the sunshine while it lasts βΊοΈβ¨
Itβs a new month and Mermay is officially over, which means itβs time to get back to drawing lots of various subject matter again and explore new things! π So I wanted to share a few things that are inspiring me right now and some plans of things I want to explore this month βοΈβ¨
One of the main things Iβve been thinking of doing this month is exploring more diverse angles when it comes to poses, and also incorporating backgrounds into my character drawings more often! π
So hereβs a little mood board of some references Iβm thinking of using as inspiration! π My main goal of studying references like these is to practice capturing a moment and a feeling, while also practicing my background skills since thatβs an area where I usually struggle π But I really want to challenge myself this month, and Iβll be taking you guys with me through that little journey! βΊοΈβ¨
The other thing I want to explore this month is drawing characters that interact with subject matter. I love drawing simplistic portraits and character drawings, but I love the idea of adding more emotion to my art by drawing characters who are interacting with a subject or their environment! And one of the subjects Iβm imagining my characters interacting with is plant life πβ¨
Plants can add so much life and energy to a drawing, and I want to experiment with the idea of drawing a character that ties into the plants in a conceptual way, using color and poses to add a little extra emotion! βΊοΈβ¨ I think it will be a challenge, but Iβm really excited to experiment and share my ideas with you guys ππ Both mood boards are attached at the bottom of this post if youβd like to save them in high quality and use for your own inspiration! β¨
What kinds of things are you trying to improve with your art this month? I love hearing about it because it also gives me ideas of what kinds of step-by-step tutorials and videos to make for you guys! π₯°
Anyways, I am sooo so excited to begin a fresh new month with all of you and get started on all the things I have planned for this monthβs content! π And Iβm so happy youβre here with me for the journey π letβs make this a fun month! π₯³β¨

Oh man, I've been kind of on a self-improvement kick as well.....Last year I challenged myself to complete at least 1 full illustration a month, in high resolution. Really beefed up my portfolio! This year I'm trying to explore more painting techniques....ultimately, I'd like to get back into Actual Oil Painting on canvas again, but translating that painting technique to a digital canvas is a challenge, too! I've gotten so comfortable with cartoons and comics, I'd like to have some fun with painterly textures again.

My plans for this month is to join "the plastic summer art festival" challenge by Plastic.pen. Probably won't have time to do everything but at least a few entries would be nice! :) If anyone is joining too let me know, we can encourage each other! :)
