Happy Weekend everyone! 🍁
Here is the full timelapse process of my painting study! ☺️ This drawing was such a helpful exercise because it’s rare that I study old historical artwork and I learned so much from it, especially when it came to things like value, light, folds, and shiny fabric! ✏️
Something I focused on was making sure I took my time with the sketching phase, particularly the rendering of the shadows, light, and the line work before any coloring. I wanted to jump into the coloring phase right away, but I knew that I would probably struggle with all the values if I didn’t establish the shades in grayscale first. For more complex drawings, I love rendering everything in grayscale first because it makes the coloring process much more simple! ✨ You can watch my tutorial on how to paint from grayscale to color if you’re interested in seeing the process broken down 🥰
Anywho, I hope you guys enjoy this little timelapse!! 💛 And have a beautiful fall day 😌🍁
Love,
Lydia 💌
