[Dreamer] Chapter Two
Added 2023-04-15 02:44:00 +0000 UTCI grabbed my right arm, breathing heavily and feeling even more panicked as I scrambled to get out of the sand.
I...died?
Wha-
Suddenly I heard something that sounded like a mix between a hiss and a growl come from my side.
Looking over I saw a strange lizard-like creature the size of a large dog running at me at a slow pace, not very fast.
Noticing something written above its head, I squinted and read 'Female Dilophosaurus - Level 17'
By the time I finished reading it, I was already running.
I didn't want to die.
Not again.
It's too painful...too empty.
Would I come back if I died again?
As I panicked, I dashed into the forest and through trees and shrubbery until I tripped on a tree root and rolled into the ground into an open field.
I breathed heavily as I felt my heart pound in my chest.
Suddenly the ground began to tremble.
Looking around, I noticed a creature I remembered from my time in school that should have been dead...for a very very long time.
'Female Triceratops - Level 82'
The massive dinosaur larger than a car stepped closer to me and began sniffing me, around us were four more Triceratops, and waddling underneath them were even smaller Triceratop babies following.
Dragging myself to a tree and sitting up against it, I breathed heavily.
The Triceratops in front of me seemed to be resting, and from what I remember, they were herbivores, so I didn't have to worry about them trying to attack and or eat me.
Feeling safe, at least for now, I brought up my left arm once again, bringing up the holographic screen.
Inside my inventory, was a singular object.
'Your Specimen Implant / Artifact
'A Mysterious Implant attached to your arm'
'Sample #194185811'
'Vernacular ID: Midoriya Izuku
'Gender: M'
'Age: 14 Years'
'Survival Quotient - None'
Reading the description that appeared after tapping the object on my screen, I became even more anxious.
'Was I kidnapped by someone? Does that sample number mean I am the 194,185,811th person to arrive here? How could so many people be kidnapped without the whole world being in the know?'
Taking a deep breath, in and out, I calmed myself down and started thinking.
If I got here, there must be some way I can get out, if I disappeared then my Mom should have gotten people to start looking for me, all I need to do is hold out...yeah...hold out...
Feeling myself begin to panic again, I decided to focus on something else, tapping the engram screen, countless boxes appeared before me.
[Campfire Engram - Level 2 Requirement - 3 Engram Points - Description: Teaches the User the ins and outs of creating campfires, including the tools necessary to start a fire]
[Stone Tools - Level 2 Requirement - 5 EM - Description: Teaches the User how to fashion stone, wood, and fiber to make a Stone Axe, Spear, Shovel, knife, and hoe]
[Cloth Clothing - Level 3 Requirement - 5 EM (Engram Points) - Description: Teaches the user how to craft their own clothes made from cloth woven from plant fiber]
[Clay Pottery - Level 3 Requirement - 3 EM - Description: Teaches the user how to use Clay to fashion pottery that could be used for storage, cooking, carrying, and more]
[Waterskin - Level 3 Requirement - 2 EM - Description: Teaches the user how to create a leather waterskin using hide and plant fiber]
Countless more 'engrams' appeared on the list causing me quite the headache reading through so many.
[A/N: Why didn't the Ark Devs ever combine all the clothing/armor engrams into a single one? Why the hell do we have to unlock each individual piece?]
Another thing I noticed was that on my status, my Level has a percentage next to it.
[Level 1 - 87%]
As for my crafting tab, I had only a few things inside it.
[Torch - 1x Flint, 1x Wood, and 1x Stone], [Note - 3x Thatch and 1x Plant Fiber], and [Stone Pickaxe - 1x Stone, 1x Wood, 10x Thatch]
What counted as '1 Unit' of Wood, Stone, or Thatch?
Taking a deep breath and feeling itchy from laying on the rough bark with my bare skin, I pulled myself up and noticed the Triceratops seemed to be watching me curiously.
Seeing a large stick not too far, I walked over and grabbed it.
Holding it in my hand I looked at my inventory, I was surprised to see the '1x Wood' was now green instead of red.
I still had no exact measurement to work with, so, I experimented, I grabbed another nearby stick and noticed a message at the corner of my vision.
[Obtained 1x Wood]
Time passed as I experimented, finding that any stick I picked up still counted as one unit of wood, and after picking up a branch covered in smaller sticks, I finally got a unit of thatch.
Specifically, I got 6 units of thatch from the branch.
Knowing what to look for now, I quickly got the rest of the thatch I needed while under the gazes of the curious Trikes, short for the Triceratops.
And after picking up a few rocks, I had a small pile of resources at my feet.
Then I remembered something, I had an inventory, sure there was only one thing in it at the moment, but surely I could use it? Like those in games.
And when I thought about storing a wood stick in my inventory, it disappeared in a flash, as if it was never there.
Looking at my inventory for the wood, and it was indeed there.
Storing the rest of the resources in my inventory left me with 18x Wood, 13x Thatch, and 4x Stone, only enough to make a single stone pickaxe.
Switching over to the crafting menu, I tapped on the Stone Pickaxe.
[Manual or Automatic creation?]
[Note that Manual Creation has a guide feature that is usable only five times for each crafting recipe and Automatic Creation has a chance to fail]
After reading the warning, I clicked on Manual Creation.
[Guided or Unguided Manual Creation?]
[5/5 Guides left]
I clicked on guided.
Not sensing anything different, I pulled the required amount of resources from my inventory, and a blue light appeared before my eyes, showing phantom hands floating before me.
The hands grabbed a phantom copy of the resources and began assembling the stone pickaxe before his eyes.
First, the hands began grinding the large stone before it on another stone, sharpening both ends of the stone to make it into a thin slab with two sharp ends that could be used to chop wood and break apart stone.
Then the hands grabbed the thatch and began to split them apart, making long threads of fiber, the threads were then twisted with another strand of threads to make twine which the hands used to fasten the jagged rock onto the stick and bind them.
[4/5 Guides remaining]
After watching this, I already understood the weakness of this tool.
Because it was made using a large rock its durability would be quite weak against more stone but would be enough to harvest more 'stone' from rocks before it would break, it would also be enough to crudely chop down trees.
Getting straight to work I began by taking out another rock and began grinding my main rock against it to sharpen it.
This...would take a while and would be even faster if I had water, but Im not going anywhere near the ocean again, not after...I am just not going.
I needed goals if I wanted to get off this island.
And after some thought, while grinding away, I came up with something that would get me started.
'First Goal: Obtain weapons and clothing.'
'Second Goal: Find Shelter'
'Third Goal: Gather Food and Water.'
'Fourth Goal: Explore my surroundings and see what else this strange object could do.'
'Fith and Final Goal: Escape this place and return home.'
Trying to give myself some confidence, I kept muttering "I'll escape from here, I'll see Mom and Dad again. I'll escape from here."
After about two hours of grinding the stone, I felt it was sharp enough and assembled everything.
[You are now level 2!]
Surprised by the sudden green text appearing before me, I jumped.
Taking a deep breath, I opened my screen and saw that I had one stat point I could assign.
Having only a general idea of what each stat did, I simply assigned the stat to health, seeing it rise from 100 to 125.
Suddenly a great pain gripped me from inside causing me to fall to the ground and grab my chest.
In pain, I looked at my health and saw it sitting at 100 out of 125...
I rolled onto the ground and curled into a ball in pain, wishing it would go away.
After about an hour of pain, I noticed all of my new health was healed, at a great cost, I was hungry, really hungry.
[14/100]
Noticing the Trikes eating away at some of the bushes nearby, I saw a few of what looked to be berries of varying colors.
Climbing up to my feet, I walked over to a nearby bush and rummaged through it, finding about two dozen berries.
[2x Mejobery], [Tintoberry 8x], [6x Azulberry], [5x Amarberry], [Stimberry 2], [1x Narcoberry]
Briefly reading over the descriptions of the berries, I ended up eating all of the Mejoberries, Tintoberries, Azulberries, and Amarberries.
It didn't satisfy me much, but it would keep me going for a while more, at least until I get a campfire going and a spear to protect myself.
[19/100 Hunger]
