[SCP] 4 – The Interview Continues
Added 2023-10-06 07:08:18 +0000 UTC"What is your name?" My interviewer asked again.
"Ah, you may call me Vale, if you are so inclined," I answered, leaning back into my chair.
"Veil?" She asked, confused.
"Yes, like Death's Veil, or a Veil of dust and mist," I explained, using examples.
"That is a...peculiar name," She replied, staring at me, waiting for a reaction. In response I shrugged, before saying, "It may be, but it is mine."
"Was that the name given to you by your parents?" She asked, curious.
My mind wandered to my Patron and Creator, "You could say so," I answered vaguely.
"I see..." She responded before continuing with another question, "When and where were you born?" She asked.
"May 4th, 2004. As for where, Texas, I will refrain from being more specific about where exactly," I informed her.
"You said...2004?" She asked, glancing at the guards who looked confused as well.
"Why are you confused? What's the date?" I asked, confused by her reaction, coming to attention and leaning back up from the chair. Was I in a different time as well? Well...that will cause a few problems.
"I am afraid I cannot answer that question," She replied stoically.
"So I was correct, what year is it? Based on your reactions I can only assume that it's either before the Year 2004 or, sometime around it, so which is it?" I asked, seriously.
"I'm afraid I cannot answer that question," The Doctor once again told me.
Suddenly an intercom buzzed on.
"Bzzz. You may inform them," An Elderly male voice spoke over the intercom before it turned back off.
Looking back over to the woman, I raised an eyebrow, waiting for an answer.
"Very well, today is March 6th, of 2008," She told me, eying me for information.
"Ah, I see," I replied.
It wasn't too bad, I was expecting to be told I somehow landed sometime before the 2000s, which would have sucked for my modern brain. It's going to suck even more with the lack of entertainment.
"What year are you from?" The Doctor asked after a few moments of silence.
"2023," I replied nonchalantly.
"What?!" She asked, baffled, nearly jumping out of her seat.
Raising an eyebrow towards her, she coughed and sat back down, writing away at a flash on the clipboard she was holding and taking notes on.
"You say you are from fifteen years in the future?" She asked.
"Correct."
"Do you have any proof?" She asked.
Thinking for a few moments, I shrugged and replied, "I'm afraid not, don't know what would happen if I were to reveal any future events, wouldn't want the timeline of this world to drastically change because of my information."
I honestly did not know what would happen if I told them about the future, who knows, I may have to deal with a version of the TVA, or I might make everything worse, so I won't even bother.
Though to be honest, I don't really care all that much.
"You can ask about the future, and I might answer, but I will warn you, sometimes interfering could very well make whatever happens far worse," I informed her.
"Or better," She told me, conviction in her eyes.
"Or better, yes, but who knows, I certainly don't," I replied with a shrug.
She stared at me for what felt like an eternity before moving on to her next question, "What are your anomalous abilities? What are you capable of?"
Humming, I wondered if I should reveal what I am capable of, or will be capable of, or simply play the act of the fool.
"Can I get back to you on that?" I asked, with a tilt of my head, before leaning back into my chair.
"..." She stared at me in silence.
The intercom came back on, "Dr. Curie, this interview will be put on hold for tomorrow," Hearing that, the Doctor got up and left the room.
"Guards, you may release 3539, and leave the room."
Releasing me from the table, I stretched and waved the guards goodbye.
They seemed nice.
Or they could be afraid of me.
Shrugging my shoulders I began walking around the room, examining everything, and looked up at the cameras watching over my every action.
Smiling, I waved and sat down on the bed, before laying down completely.
I sorely wished to enter my realm of death, but for tonight, I figured I'd get some rest first. I have a feeling that tomorrow will be quite exhausting.
...
Meanwhile, in an adjacent room, two Foundation Scientists were watching Vale through the cameras.
"Do you believe that they are actually from the future? How do we know it is not lying?"
"We won't know, not unless we ask it something and wait to see if what it said is to come true," The older Doctor replied, gazing deeply at the entity on the other side of the screen.
"Should we even do that?" The female doctor asked.
"No, not for now. Perhaps in the future when something major happens we may be able to ask it more questions regarding the future and what it knows, but for now, we will observe it, and tomorrow you will continue asking questions, we have no idea what that thing is, but you can feel it can't you? That primal fear, the encroaching darkness every time it looks at us?" The older doctor asked, fear clear in his voice.
"I feel something when around it, but not what you describe, encroaching darkness? What do you mean?" the younger doctor asked, confused.
She knew that the creature felt somewhat oppressive, but she hadn't felt anything like what the older doctor felt.
"I...I don't know how to describe it..." The older doctor hesitated, the younger doctor noticed he was shaking, gritting his teeth, and clenched hands. Suddenly his pupils dilated and his breathing stopped. Without any sound, the man collapsed suddenly onto the ground.
"Are you alright? Dr. Felix?!" She yelled after seeing the older doctor suddenly collapse.
Rushing over to him, she checked his pulse, finding...nothing.
"Guards!" The Guards outside the door watching over 3539's room heard the scream and came rushing, only to see the two scientists on the floor, one seemingly passed out while the other began CPR. Reaching for the radio, one of the guards began shouting into the channels.
Not even three minutes later, medical staff came rushing into the room and began stabilizing the man.
...
Meanwhile, laying on the bed trying to get sleep was me, who groaned in annoyance hearing a lot of commotion outside the room.
Sighing, I got up from the bed, walked over to the table, and sat down.
Unfortunately, I had not felt tired at all and was hoping I was still capable of sleep.
Focusing on the noises, I picked up the conversation going on through the wall.
"He's going into cardiac arrest!"
Raising my eyebrow, I wondered what the hell was happening.
Listening to the conversation, I could hear multiple medics or doctors working on trying to stabilize whoever was having the cardiac arrest, and after two minutes, silence.
"He's gone," One of the Doctors spoke.
While I heard the commotion and what sounded like the woman who was interrogating me began to be questioned about what happened, I felt something.
Frowning, my face went stoic as I turned towards the direction of the noise.
I could feel something. On the other side of the wall, something I felt a need to get.
Without thinking, my began to shift.
My skin began to melt away as if I was a wax figurine under a scorching sun.
Reaching out, my hand grabbed the air as my scythe materialized in the air, on my back, my wings burst into existence.
Getting up from the chair, I began walking towards the wall.
With no effort, I walked through it.
My spiritual senses guided me to what I sought.
Stepping through the wall revealed that I was standing in another room, everyone was looking at me. Skin pale, eyes dilated, they were nothing but deer caught in the headlights of a car.
Then I saw it, floating above the corpse of an old man, a white orb.
His soul.
Reaching out, the soul flew into my grasp, and my skull moved more than what bones had any right to, showing a gentle smile on my face.
"It's alright. You are safe now. It's time you moved on."
The soul, now visible to everyone in the room, spoke.
"I...died?"
"That's right, are you scared?" I asked, gently.
"Y-Yes," the soul replied.
"Don't worry, you are going to paradise, my paradise, I will see you soon, okay?"I told the soul.
Tapping the ground with my scythe, a tear ripped through space and appeared before me, revealing my empty realm of Death.
"Go on, don't worry, I'll fix the place up soon, just relax once you are in there, I will answer any questions you may have soon, okay? Just get some rest, I will see you soon," With a gentle gesture, I guided the soul into my realm, where it glew brightly before expanding, to show the ghostly and ethereal soul of the doctor, now in human form within my realm, but still just a soul without a body to inhabit.
Waving my hand, my Demi-plane shifted, changing to a beautiful grove where blue lights floated through the air and a beautiful star-filled dark sky hung above.
Smiling, I waved the soul goodbye and closed the portal.
Looking back to the scientists, I glanced at them briefly, before turning back and going back to my room.
[A/N: Do give me some question suggestions for the next interview, I doubt Ill be able to think of all the questions that should be asked]
