I'm guessing VI is an anacronym for group that has a latin name and the I stands for Inquisition or Inquistor. But keep in mind that Inquisitor can also mean questioner or seeker of answers, so it could very well be a group of librarians determined to share knowlege regardless of the cost to those involved.
