Yeah, these tentacles are more like snakes, but they like clumping together, because they get to gestalt their senses and conciousness, kind of like Odo's race from DS9. So it's accurate in English's limited library of pronouns to refer to Trent as either him or they.

This is disturbing on so many levels, but one very important one is, if you bring a visiting alien life form to your high-security HQ and plop it down in the break room (!), you post <b><i>security</i></b> at all points of access, both to keep an eye on it, and to warn your staff about what they will encounter in THEIR break room. Also, I was surprised to find the tentacles can move "freely" - I figured they were anchored at one end on the other side of the initial rift Wyr-ter created. Cause normally tentacles are attached to <u>something</u> (like a squid body). These seem more like snakes or eels, kinda, in that they have individuality.
