To a large extent, I would postulate the amount you would be willing to invest would be directly proportional to the amount that Sydney herself was the one who was thwarting your acquisition. At least, up until she started taking out homeworlds to get away. (Opening a wormhole at ground level to hard vacuum destroys the planet? Who knew?) But then, of course, that's when the focus is changed to threatening her homeworld. Still not the smartest plan, but it's just like Forrest Gump's momma always said...
