2019-01-03 16:28:58 +0000 UTCYou'd think she would want to keep at least One of the limbs mechanical, or have some kind of backup option in case this hardlight system can somehow be hacked, distrupted or otherwise interfered with. Obviously such methods are not really available on a military scale or she wouldnt be using it in the first place given her job. Not like cybernetic limbs are completely 234% hack-proof either, nor are organic ones for that matter. As for it being an upgrade, it is probably a bit easier to maintain and keep clean 4 or so projectors for the limbs than it is to clean and maintain 4 intricately designed artificial robot arms with synthetic muscle and everything, though one would think Dabbler would have built them to be self-maintaining... Their tensile strength/durability would likewise become a function of how much energy can be pumped into the field projectors rather than limited by the tensile strength of the materials the mechanical arms is built of, plus given the energy-storage/generation tech available to a space-faring organisation, that powersource can contain a lot more juice raising that limit well beyond minimum requirements, so I can see why this would be an improvement even if we dont consider the light-shifting aspects of it.
