I love Syd's shooting face. Nothing says I'm in total control of this weapon like a look of total fear. I suspect that the next comic will be Sydney taking her calibration shots and getting a "failure to calibrate" message.

Grimfox

It's alien tech. How would she do that? I don't even perceive any controls on those specs. I also don't understand why she would want to adjust something only she sees to match a particular game. I'd personally prefer real life interfaces to be sufficiently different from games so that they can be readily distinguished, even when I'm not mentally in prime condition, because I've been ridiculously far from prime condition and know it'll happen again, sooner or later. I understand that she's young and probably hasn't had those sorts of experiences yet. But it seems to me that fiddling with what she'd have no hope to repair would be an obviously bad choice of action. And I'm going to be totally dumbfounded the next time she does it, too, because she's a different person than me and makes different choices.

Some Ed

She should customize her AR so that when it scans a new gun, it says "HUD-cannon accepted."

Mattie Ian Bishop

Not sure how that would be dangerous unless she was loading rounds and getting sticky chocolate all over them.

Dave Barrack

Somehow I doubt they have too many people who shoot the ceiling. Her glasses will probably help keep her from shooting outside her lane, but I wouldn't put it completely past her. You wouldn't believe all the kinds of range records she could manage with just enough overconfidence...

Some Ed

Guessing it's not good range safety to be eating on range, especially when people are actively shooting/preparing to shoot.

Autistic Observer

"New range record"? HAH! Just because you have a pointer to show exactly where the bullet will go when you pull the trigger doesn't mean that you have the skill to hold that pointer on your intended target WHILE squeezing the trigger.

Louis Richards

I would suspect that her new glasses are that, seeing the level of Cora's tech. Of course, we're not going to know until she's hit in the face.

MaxBigfoot

Of course, prescription safety glasses are available.

Town Crier

Having been hit in the head/hat so many times I literally couldn't count them all... Yeah wear your eye gear. Awesome as always Dave. Thank you, and loved how she kept her finger in the correct "NOT ON THE TRIGGER" part of the weapon until ready. Adds just that little bit more of "UmmPH" to such a great comic!

Doug Northcote

Panels 3 and 4 are actually Sydney daydreaming about what might happen. I've added a thought bubble fringe to help indicate that.

Dave Barrack

I suspect they're also big on gun control. I mean, the sort where you're supposed to make sure your bullets go into the targets you intend them to go into, at the spots where you intended them to hit, rather than possibly hitting innocent bystanders.

Some Ed

So Cora's culture is big on gun registration.

Stephen Gilberg

this is why you still wear range goggles

TikkTik

I'm betting that in a strip or two Maxima (or someone else) will be telling her she can use these upgraded specs in the field, but when training she has to use standard ones.

Autistic Observer

Seneca is a lousy range officer. You never stint on safety. If Sydney actually burned her eye due to not being protected by safety glasses, then Seneca would be in serious trouble. That being said, I can see Cora having put some additional safety features in Sydney's glasses...

Town Crier

At first I thought that one of Sydney's orbs was showing a new power, but Cora's intervention makes more sense.

Town Crier

Those glasses aren't training wheels, they're a full on set of crutches. Not a good way to acquire the fundamentals.

akrasia

The haloesque ammo counter is very nostalgic too :)

Alex H

Nah, only a target that looks like Vader. If it was really Vader, he'd just put up a hand, and she'd never know if the round would've hit or not.

Foradain

Wikipedia says, "In the United States, the Five-seveN is in use with numerous law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service.[13][21]". Apparently in the Archon Parallel, we should include Archon as well. ^_^

Foradain

Oh, alien tech is tight!

Michael Obert

Always love 6am Thursday, have to ask why you went with what looks like the FN Five-Seven

Alex H

is she shooting at darth vader?
