Am a gun person: Full extension with locked elbows is generally bad for both your elbows and your accuracy. Most people, if they're anticipating the recoil, (And with the amount of shake she has while drawing a bead in the second-to-last panel, she's *dreading* the recoil) will have garbage followthrough (Shooting is like golf. It's not just the action, it's the leadup, the action *and* the followthrough.) because they'll exaggerate the movements they think are necessary to avoid nailing themselves in the face with the muzzle, topstrap and/or the front sight. And weapons like that Taurus Raging Bull 454 (nice to see one in a comic) have a ported barrel which tends to cut the amount of muzzle flip and linear recoil added to make the "total recoil impulse", "about as much as Syd's FN Five-Seven": Less 'flip', more push, though. From the depth of field and relative positioning of her elbows, that's about the right position to let one off without pistolwhipping herself. Textbook grip, too (Relax, Syd; go for it, because you've got this.)

Not a gun person, but Sydney's arms are not straight in the second to last last panel. I'm predicting that gun will hit her nose

Martin Croft

I feel like "pew pew" isn't appropriate for firepower of that magnitude.

Grimfox

Anyone think Syndey might recognize the Casull as the pistol Alucard uses in Hellsing? ;P

I have one word for you. Gyrojet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrojet

Once while renting a lane at the firing range with some friends I was unlucky enough to be stuck near somebody shooting what I think was a .44 magnum revolver. Forget ear protection, I could FEEL every shot. It was very distracting. I did actually get to fire the revolver later. The first shot hurt my hand -- not badly, but I tensed up for every shot after that. I think I gave up after a couple more shots and handed it back to her with thanks. Yeah, Sydney should be afraid.

Don't think normal bullets work on Galactus. Galan maybe but Galactus, it's just more likely to tick him off, assuming he even notices.

Great story. Great Art. And solid facts, at least where trigger control is concerned. Accurate drawing of the revolver with its crane lock, but the Taurus is only a five-shooter. (Maybe in Sydney's universe it's different)...The .454 should be an educational experience for The Mighty Halo...

Tie Toter

It really struck me today just how much the already great art of the comic has improved. I’m really impressed by the shading here.

CyberSkull

Yay, more RL-relevant firearm education! Of course, shooting at the "real" Galactus would be a bad idea. The one time I went to a small-arms range, I must have been putting my finger too far onto the trigger. Eventually, I compensated by aiming to the right of where I wanted.

Wow, does that woman ever stop eating? Also, glad to see Sydney getting some real advice (as in the kind of advice I got the one time I've ever shot a real gun [in a gun range, don't worry])

Autistic Observer

Pretty sure that's a churro

Leo Once3333

Good eyesight doesn't make you a good gunperson. What is she holding in her hand in the last panel? I can't tell.

Madeleine

. . . Churro!

Lol, I bet you spent all weekend laughing at all the comments on the last coming about how there is so much more to shooting than aim :D

Alex H

Mmmm
