DSS v0.8.3 beta2 Hotfix


DSS version 0.8.3 beta is released!

Abnormal movement and rotation issues applied to characters

This phenomenon mainly occurred in custom models that differed greatly from the basic character skeleton in previous versions, especially models with short stature. In this version, the automatically generated collision size has been improved, and additionally, players can adjust the size themselves, so I expected this issue to be completely resolved.

However, I confirmed that many people are still experiencing this issue. After testing for a long time and not being able to find the issue, I finally found the cause. This was not a physical issue, but a bug in the code that occurred during the process of improving the character's walking function. When physics were activated and the character's action option was set to Follow or Patrol and the Apply button was pressed, the character would rotate and move to look at the character, causing the character to move very abnormally. I apologize for noticing this simple but player-critical bug so late.

Additionally, please adjust the phenomenon of the character moving infinitely due to physical collision using the collision size and position editing function in the game. Although the automatic generation has been improved, each model to be imported has its own size and skeleton, so please fix the collision for normal use. In addition, a save function has already been added to assist this. The bones that cause the most problems are probably the Chest and Spine, so please check them carefully.


Abnormal movement issue that occurs when arm restraints are equipped

Arm restraints are basically a pose where the character's arms are tied behind their backs. So if there is a collider, floor, or wall behind the character, abnormal forces will be applied, and the joints will be distorted, causing additional problems. I was aware of this issue to some extent, but to completely solve this issue, I had to change it so that the restraints can only be applied when the character is standing, that is, when physics are not applied. However, I left it alone because I expected that many people would want to change the restraint options in real time even when physics are applied. I think that was a mistake.

Until I find a better solution, I plan to change the restraint options so that they cannot be applied when physics is enabled for the time being.


Changes in the environment

The lighting and shader effects are constantly being revised, but I think my personal bias is reflected. Because of this, there are opinions that say they do not like the current environment. So, the lighting method has been changed in real time, and the user can adjust the light intensity in real time.


In addition, I have checked all the opinions about big and small bugs and improvements. The original intention of pre-releasing the game in the Fanbox was to reward those who supported financially, but as a result, I am truly sorry that you experienced so many bugs in advance. The date when the game will be released for free will be delayed by a few days.

自動生成は改善されましたが、インポートされる各モデルにはそれぞれのサイズやスケルトンがあるため、正常に使用できるようにコリジョンを修正してください。最も問題を引き起こす可能性が高いボーンは、おそらく「Chest(胸)」と「Spine(背骨)」ですので、これらを特に注意深く確認してください。


腕の拘束具を装着した際に発生する異常な動きの問題

腕の拘束具は基本的にキャラクターの腕が背中で縛られたポーズです。そのため、キャラクターの後ろにコリジョン、床、壁などがあると異常な力が加わり、関節が歪んで追加の問題が発生します。この問題についてはある程度認識していましたが、完全に解決するためには、物理が適用されていない、つまりキャラクターが立っている状態でのみ拘束具が適用可能になるよう変更する必要がありました。しかし、多くの人が物理が適用されている状態でもリアルタイムで拘束オプションを変更したいと考えていると予想し、そのままにしておきました。それが誤りだったと思います。

より良い解決策が見つかるまでは、物理が有効な状態では拘束オプションを適用できないように一時的に変更する予定です。


環境の変更

ライティングとシェーダーの効果は継続的に調整されていますが、私個人の好みが反映されていると思います。そのため、現在の環境が好みではないという意見もあります。そこで、ライティング方式をリアルタイムで変更可能にし、ユーザーが光の強さをリアルタイムで調整できるようにしました。


また、大きなバグや小さな改善点についてのご意見はすべて確認しました。当初、Fanboxでゲームを先行リリースした目的は、金銭的に支援してくださった方々へのリターンでしたが、その結果、多くのバグを先に体験させてしまったことを本当に申し訳なく思っています。ゲームの無料公開日は数日延期される予定です。

tysm for replying,but my device honestly cant handle the application so cant use it but if i could i will try!,and for the new one,is the neck compression less visible?( i took the custom doll video for reference),so compared to it is barely visible.and im not using a imported character for the neck compression i used the original ones,like azusa and kotori,so is it a bug or should i use higher graphics( i use high mode since ultra crashes my device( ?

Hello! Nice job, the possibilities with the accessories are really interesting once the small collision problem is rectified. However, I have a problem, none of the characters emit any sound. I changed the value (to 2 then 10 up to 1000) but nothing worked. Any ideas to resolve this or is this normal?

yeah i've tried it but, the hanging rope floats/comes out of the character's neck, is that how it is or is there a mistake in my settings

Even now, you can change the angle or position appropriately in the gallows settings, but I also feel that it is a hassle. I didn't add it in this update, but I plan to add presets soon.

As for the features added in this version, the character that uses the tongue must have its own tongue in the character's mouth, and the "tongue" custom expression must be added in Unity and the corresponding (tongue sticking out) blend shape must be applied. If the character has a tongue and one of the character's face blend shapes sticks out the tongue, you can use it right away by referring to the guide I posted before and adding it through Unity. However, if the model does not have a tongue or does not have a tongue sticking out blend shape, additional knowledge of using Blender etc. is required.

First of all, since the critical bugs have been fixed, I think it's time to decide on a free release date. It's scheduled to be released on the 13th.

The reason why your character is having this issue in the hanging simulation is because of the collision size. Selecting your character and adjusting the collision size and position will fix it. neckCompression was added in this 0.8.3 update. You can create a blendshape with your modeling tool that shrinks your model's neck, then edit the VRM in Unity to add a facial expression named neckCompression and apply that blendshape. I have a similar guide I wrote before, so please refer to it.

You are right. When hanging, the terrain layer is currently the only thing that can be stepped on. The tops of the props need to be patched to allow for stepping on them as well.

I don’t know if you’ve fixed this issue, but in version 0.8.2 beta I noticed a problem: when the character is standing on the ground with a noose around their neck, and even slightly hanging, the character stays alive and doesn’t start suffocating. But if you tighten the rope a bit when the character is standing on something elevated like a wardrobe, couch, or bed, they immediately start suffocating, even though most of their body is still supported by the object.
