Grrl Power #1318 - Have two feet, will probably travel

Thank you for the support! You guys are awesome!

Peggy's new favorite thing to do? Not hopping when she gets out of bed in the morning. I mean, sure, she'd probably keep her prosthetic next to the bed, but I assume she has one especially for the shower, fully hydrophobic, with a non-slip foot pad, and doesn't want to strap the everyday peg on to walk ten feet to the restroom. Her second favorite thing to do? Making fists on the carpet with her toes. (And then fighting off a high-rise full of assorted european thieves posing as terrorists, but that's just obvious.)

I bet all of her existing footwear has different wear patterns on the inside of them now, cause the faux-foot on the end of her peg is designed to be functional first, and mostly foot shaped second. Even if it was a mirror image cast of her left foot, the way it would flex and move inside the shoe would create different erosion. I'm sure some shoes will be better than others, but she's probably going to have to update about half her shoe collection.

Peggy had never given anyone a foot job before she lost her leg. Now? She'll probably have that "I should do everything that involves having two feet" mentality for a while. So if you happened to already be dating her, I guess now would be your best bet, if you were into that sort of thing. Not that it's impossible to give a foot job it with one foot, I suppose. I just kind of assume a single foot would start to cramp before the end. I dunno, maybe wearing high heels trains women's feet to do strenuous things for extended periods of time. Not that guys can't give footjobs... or wear heels. I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Just ignore this part.

There will for sure be a new vote incentive up with the Monday comic.

I have a small scar on my face and the story is: I was a dumb kid.

Martin Drkoš

I've never watched that one. I just remember in Die Hard McCain's fellow airline passenger giving him the "makes fists with your toes " advice...

Tie Toter

Nice "Skyscraper" reference!

Ian Brown

Actually, I'd be more inclined to think it was for 2018's "Skyscraper" with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, seeing as how his character had a prosthetic leg during that movie.

Ian Brown

Yeah, that's her default genetic skin-tone, sans weathering/tanning. Sorta like a reverse Trucker's Tan. A few hours in a tanning bed will even that out.

Ian Brown

it might be cursed...

Charles Bradbury

Time wound all heels? I don't have any over-arch-ing plan here. I'm solely trying to make foot puns. Something something shoe-in!

Person

Good eye, I assume its lack of tan?

Mathew Aaberg

I have some scars with a really wild "I survived" story. And some with no real story.

Opus the Poet

I hope her losing a foot doesn’t become a running gag. That ground’s been tread.

Bear C. Brown

We know two wrongs don't make a right, but what do two wrights make. Bicycles and an airplane.

Opus the Poet

Now she can get a re-do of the tattoo that was lost with the foot.

Opus the Poet

Exactly! You may even have the correct person for when they started to be elevated. As much as most people try to blame it on Napoleon, the truth is he wasn't actually that short.

Anton Schleef

They hit it off from the beginning.

eddi_TBH

Totally. The "do it again" Nearly made me need a tissue.

eddi_TBH

And they weren't that high. See a good riding boot for comparison. King Louis (the short one) may have started elevating the heels.

eddi_TBH

Let's see. Sensitivity normal, reflexes excellent. Emergency tissue deployment successful. Frix marks another win in his dairy.

eddi_TBH

Hey space doctor, while you're at it (and since I dye my hair anyway) got any hair treatments?

IvyReed

Her pinky toe.

Opus the Poet

I didn't lose my leg when I was hit with a truck, but it was pretty much hamburger below the knee. I would have traded one of my kids to get the leg returned to factory spec and function in the first few years after the wreck.

Opus the Poet

I love panel 6. I can visualize the eyes growing because I live on YT Shorts watching cat videos. Watch any vid where the cat's pupils dilate right before zoomie-time, and that's what I visualize Peggy doing.

Gelatinous Cube

I was thinking a dotted line too. :) I didn't like the idea of Frix's signature at first, because he didn't really make it. BUT - he is _the_ space alien who did the first human leg implant, and this leg is a memento of that, so I can see it... I like the Mk II and 'Other Leg' ideas too.

AlpineBob

Frix: "Now wiggle your big toe..."

Terence Bryant-White

It’s pretty subtle. I’ve had more dramatic changes in skin tone after a day canoeing in shorts. And that was after the sunburn healed.

John Anderson

I hope Peggy doesn’t go too far for too long. She’s one of my favorites. Although I’d be interested in a separate Peggy-centric story line.

John Anderson

Some folks find them hot.

John Anderson

More likely a crutch for short, y'know, hops

Cat Tillinghast

Fun Fact: When high heels were first being worn for 'fashion' it was men wearing them, not women.

Anton Schleef

Awwwww...

Hugh Eckert

For the rule of cool she immediately needs to stub her toe after hopping down from the table.

Mathew Aaberg

She should get a new one on her left leg saying "My other leg is from space".

Andrew Diseker

It goes along with her anime eyes in panel 6

Andrew Diseker

Wow, she got the anime eyes in panel 6!

Andrew Diseker

I just noticed that the skin tone doesn't /quite/ match. Subtle.

Person

Most wholesome foot stuff on the internet

You_With_The_Face

Oh - and now we get to see whether the shoe is on the other foot (so to speak) with respect to how chatty she is about it. See the past strip where she and Sydney are talking about vegan crossfitter pregnant superpowered vacation-returning people. https://www.grrlpowercomic.com/archives/comic/grrl-power-110-superheroes-are-like-vegans/

Mark Magagna

How do you know she won't just hop on the other leg now? Oh. Right. Author. (I wreally wanted to spell that "wright" instead of right, but a pun there wouldn't have matched the tone I was going for)

Person

Nice "Die Hard" reference.

Tie Toter

Frix might not have thought to offer, or doesn't know how to do it diplomatically. I suspect a number of space societies see them as markers of experience, or merit, or... Even with space magic translators, culture is still a minefield. Which might be a side purpose to his relationship with Sydney - another point of view for cultural investigation. Admittedly he's finding out it's not the "mainstream" view, except when it is. As for having a "shower prosthetic"? Isn't that fairly expensive? I mean Peggy can afford it, being employed by Archon. But the average veteran? Not to mention that you want to clean all of the prosthetics anyway. Human limbs have some mechanisms to keep them fairly clean even without scrubbing, none of which (as far as I know) have been replicated.

Mark Magagna

I feel like if that were the case, the images in this comic would have been cropped just a little bit lower...

Richard Riley

A dotted line along her upper calf. Not a goddammit thing. Frix's signature.

Person

Abandonment issues!

Person

Will the new vote incentive appeal to foot or tickle fetishists?

Stephen Gilberg

There is actually a guy that teaches balancing on one foot, in various manners, as a way to strengthen your core. You may want to start such training now, so as to be prepared in case the worst happens.

Town Crier

Also, second to the last panel? Love it!

Mike

The hopping, prosthetic next to the bed thing is something I've been wondering about. I have issues with one of my feet and will probably be losing it one of these days, hopefully far in the future but who knows? And this has been on my mind.

Mike

Honestly did not expect a "kyaa!" out of Peggy. It's right up there with Maxima saying "ara ara"

Daikaiju

The transition line looks super cool too. Like waves on a beach

DonnieRamesJio

She better, she felt so close to Peggy after that.

DonnieRamesJio

I can think of a few funny things, but legitimately? I think the most obvious thing to get is just some variation of a heart, to remind her for the rest of her life how much she loves having two feet, to never take that fact for granted ever again.

Magraal

Will Heatwave also be getting a new toe to replace the one that was confirmed lost in #341?

Shyster

"are you going to flail wildly and kick me?" Hmmm, training scars from dating Sydney?

William Elliott

probably not. Scars are just "tattoos with an 'I survived' story"

William Elliott

Mk II?

Michael O'Driscoll

Wonder what her first tattoo will be on her new leg?

Tristan N Milner

Since breaking and reconnecting my heel bone my shoes have distinctive wear patterns. And my posture slightly changed, so I guess she probably needs a whole new collection.

Thomas Dorner

I love how if you look closely, the new foot is a slightly lighter shade than the rest of her leg with the transition being right around the top of her calf. Almost like she got a tan while wearing a sock. Nice detail.

Slaygor

Super advanced space hanky for the win

Fogel

I wonder if removing her scars was ever up for debate.
