Hey there!
I'm sorry for the lack of posts, if you're familiar with lens, you already saw some cool pics from my journey at Japan Expo, the biggest european convention for cosplay, animes and mangas lovers!
Japan Expo's taking place every July in Paris, and it features a lot of guests, young artists, sellers, contests etc. To me, it's mostly a great time to see friend and take cosplay pictures (as both a cosplayer and photographer!)
I'm very glad I managed to stick to my cosplay plans this year: Many of my previous Japan Expo were cursed with health or family problems, and I had to change my cosplay plans at the very last minute or just stay at home, leaving me super disappointed. This time, everything went super smooth!
On Thursday I wore a store-bought cosplay, something I use to avoid, but my friends were doing a little group from Kakegurui, so I joined and don't regret it: We had a lot of fun together and it convinced me to do more duos and groups in the future!
On Friday, I wore Faye Valentine... It was kinda weird, I felt at ease in this cosplay while at Anime Los Angeles, but super awkward this time. I got a lot of bad looks and it was just... Weird? Still, I took pictures of some friends (and of an amazing Allura from Voltron whom I hope I didn't frightened from fangirling, haha!) and enjoyed the day, but yeah, it was weird. (Little note: I'm super at ease with nudity on photoshoots, I'm glad to share my thoughts on erotism, sexy pictures and all, but I'm extremely easily self-conscious at events like conventions >_>)
On Saturday I wore Yunie! I'm happy with my improvements on the costume, I only have few things I'd like to improve again, like the obi's bow shape :) The only sad thing this day is that I came to the con by car with friends, and we got stuck in traffic. We arrived pretty late and rushed to see the ECG finals... We waited 1h, then the show lasted for maybe 2h, and we got out of the stage's place at 4PM... Time for us to get in cosplay it was 5, and the con closes at 6, so I only wore my costume for such little time, haha! Still... I'm glad I saw the ECG! If you never heard about it, it's short for European Cosplay Gathering, a contest with an impressive level for european cosplayers :) You may find the videos on Youtube if you're curious. It's worth watching, there's an impressive level of both craftmanship and stage-related skills!
And finally on Sunday I debuted my Leopard Nidalee cosplay! I didn't expect such success to be honest, I couldn't move without being asked pictures. It was a first time for me, and while I was happy to see people enjoying my cosplay, I got really tired as it was a very hot day, and the 4th day of convention. I kinda collapsed at some point and had to take some rest at the photographer's booth... I think it's due to how popular LoL and Nidalee are, plus the costume is very visually attractive, sexy, with the very bright wig, the giant staff and fake fur everywhere. (When I started talking about Nidalee's success on FB, some people told me it was because it's a sexy costume, but I didn't get that kind of attention when wearing Faye who's even sexier, in my opinion, than Nidalee!)
So, yeah, I had a nice time, and I'm back home with a very positive memory of this Japan Expo. Next year I hope to have more time to see my friends (I missed many ^^") and maybe try to do a cosplay contest... I don't really like contests but I kinda like the stage, so... I don't know, maybe with friends if I manage to bring them some motivation! *she wrote, hoping that her cosplay friends will read this post* ...We'll see :)
Oh!! And on Monday, because I never get enough, I was a photographer on a HUUUUGE My Hero Academia photoshoot. I'm not familiar with the anime but it was very impressive, there were maybe 20, 30 cosplayers? It was quite an experience!
Tomorrow I'll post more about what's coming soon on Patreon and this month for me... And I'll send some selfies I took during Japan Expo aswell!
