Final Fantasy VI was beautiful. I've only played 4 FF games, VI, VII, X, and XIII. And while I think this is top 3 for me right now, I get the feeling that once (and I do mean "once" because I will play them all lol)- ONCE I play the rest of them it'll still be top 3.
The story was certainly vanilla in my mind. It never did anything too ambitious. It was stories and plot beats I'd seen before in plenty of other settings. But I appreciated that! It never tried to do too much, and although it felt cliche at moments (which made Kefka such a great villain because he even pokes fun at this lol) it worked for me. In many ways, it felt like watching a play, even when Celes wasn't singing a musical number lmao.

The characters are all so uniquely lovable in their own way and watching them interact was such a delight. There are silly moments like this scene where the gang all gets together to go buy Gau clothes so he can meet his dad which was hilarious π And yet there are other scenes where you get a glimpse of these characters at their weakest moments. I thought the world of ruin act was particularly remarkable because you get to see our heroes all coping with the fact that they failed. Finding Terra after it all goes down and seeing her find a new purpose outside of fighting was extremely relatable. What do we do when we fail? We don't always try again, sometimes we run. Sometimes we want out. All of the cast is supremely human and it's refreshing that what little dialogue there is illustrates this as well as it does for simple pixel sprites. Somehow these little characters do soooo incredibly much without cutscenes and support conversations and such. This game just works.

Anyways, enough gushing. Celes is my favorite character. Gau is my goat. I cried a little at the end. I suplexed a train. Okay, NOW enough gushing lol.
I'm maybe halfway through TLOU2? It's been a treat, truly. I'm still forming opinions but I am WILDLY entertained.

Work on the next video is... interesting. I felt like i might have been missing a piece but I just so happened to, on a whim, watch a film called "Coherence" a few nights ago. And THAT was a well done little movie. And it just might be what this video needs. I don't really know how to categorize this one yet. It might be a spooky one, it might be a feely one, it might be just... dookey thrown at the wall, no clue yet. But regardless, I hope you enjoy it. Stay tuned, there might be thumbnail voting posts soon.
Have a wonderful week!
