May you find a strengthening program that will give endurance. Every sport has different muscle training protocols including short burst energy and long endurance. Look for the ones that are low impact so that damage to joints are reduced. The goal is in the long run, as you age your hips, knees, shoulders, and back will not bring you to a halt in life.
