Ok, so....I've been going through a lot lately. A lot of therapy and self discovery and getting back to myself - which it a lot of art honestly.
I've been doing a lot of things behind the scenes since I've been home. I think about art every single day. I feel called to it. Creating and working towards projects is what my focus is.
I'm putting together a Kickstarter I was going to do in September but I'm thinking it'll hit more October now. For that I'm doing zines, I'm doing a book, possibly a podcast (we have to figure it out), I'll be doing print packages etc.
I've started a journey into fiber arts and I'm adding embroidery over my photography portraits for a collection/project. I start experimenting on photos of myself but now I'll be collaborating with others to do a full collection of different people in the same style.
In general I've just been more "open" to art - to it being a bigger part of my life. I got a position volunteering at the local art gallery. Hopefully I'll find a community there and make some more contacts. I've been working in my sketch book - which I haven't done for years. (This is about ideas for me not drawing).
I've started a new photo project with fabrics (which you've seen a little of). I'm trying to write more. I may start a YouTube channel or a blog. I'm also thinking about "rebranding" using my legal name - doing a fine art website etc.
You guys...I'm just IN IT!!!!! Like all I want to do is be here and do this, and take things in, and let ideas come to me and work through them and create stuff just to create it (without it having to be good).
UGH - All that to say I was looking for an art studio to rent today (there are none) and I ended up looking at Artist in Residency spaces and I the first one that popped up was for Hawaii.
YOU GUYS KNOW I HAVE A LOVE AFFAIR WITH HAWAII!
So, I think I'm going to apply. Which means I have to write an artist statement and a bio and make a website and come up with a project idea and it will really light a fire under my ass to focus on this stuff and get it done. Which I think will be great for me even if I don't get the residency.
AHHHHHHH - I'm excited :)
**I didn't take this picture, I found it on the internet used in an article about the National Park but there was no photographer named. I'm sorry I can't offer credit to them.**
