Ok!
So I am making an art site. In my last video I told you how lost I was with it. I have 17 years of work that I somehow need to organize and show. So I'm looking for themes in my work or narratives that I can flush out, make sets of and try to write intelligently about in order to look at least a little professional.
HA!
This has been holding me back for awhile because I just can't seem to make a decision so I'm putting it out there so I can talk about it with you guys. Everyone here obviously knows me, knows what I do and has followed me for years.
So I'm going to give you ideas of some of the themes I'm thinking of and I want your feedback. And if you see a theme in my work that I haven't listed please leave me a comment.
I really love:
"My Body Is A Conversation" - I think I could say SO much about this and I really love this as a title for a series.
F.A.T - because I am. I could def talk about how photography helped me to be comfortable and confidence within my fat body. I was thinking that this series would be less posed and I could use a lot of cropped images of my rolls etc.
And I want to do something about light, shadows and how I play with it. Obviously that's a very big theme, I'm just unsure what to call it. I have this lyric from Brand New that I've always loved.
"My Bright Is Too Sly To Hold Back All My Dark" - And I could use that to speak about light but also the visual connection between my photos and the honest I try to present within them. That as humans we are always a mix of dark and light - we essentially play in it just like I do the light.
All the Orange Stuff I've been playing with is it's own thing and I'm still very much working on that but that's a full solidified idea. I don't have a title for this yet.
And I have a series of Home stuff as well. That will somewhat go with the blog post I already shared with you guys, about finding home within myself when coming back to this place. This I just think is "coming home"....maybe that stucks? I dunno.
What do you think?
