Ms. Thorne - Concept Design

The ornery headmistress of Sumter Academy made her debut this month, so it's the perfect time to look at her original character sheet.

Salaiix made a few subtle changes to Thorne's appearance but, overall, stayed true to the concept art. A little behind-the-scenes note, when Salaiix sent along the initial sketch pages for Horror High, neither of us noticed that Thorne was missing her glasses! We were going to add them in, but I liked her updated design without them. Another teacher at Sumter ended up with glasses though--so it all evened out in the end.

Here was the original character description for Ms. Thorne: Headmistress Thorne oversees the all-girls' private school with a strict no-nonsense attitude. She has no sense of humor and rules the school like a dictator. She never smiles and always looks miserable. The Headmistress is feared by nearly all of the students, along with most of the school's staff and teachers. The Headmistress often patrols the school grounds with her riding crop in hand, usually threatening students and warning them that they will be 'disciplined' if they get out of line.
