Me sumo a la petición de Alex Talbain. He intentado leer todas las páginas de jasperstory en orden, pero faltaba esta sección. No está etiquetada ni en jasperstory ni en pages. Gracias. Gran trabajo.

Can someone tag this with the Jasper story tag? I'd do it, but I don't know how.

First and foremost, Yinller, thank you for all that you do and thank you for sharing “The Angel in the Forest” with us all. Personally, I think I speak for everyone here by saying your work has been a privilege to experience and it has brought something out of me that I have not felt in a long time. That is to say, reading your work has made me feel happy yet vulnerable, sad yet hopeful. To be honest, it is more difficult to put into words than I thought it would be, but I feel your work has somehow made me stop and enjoy the little things around me while also wanting to help those less fortunate than myself. Honestly, giving everything happening right now in the world, this escape is exactly what I needed so thank you for that.
Personally, I agree with everyone’s thoughts and views, or moreover, I see both perspectives. I think something important to keep in mind is that an overarching theme of this story has been not judging others based on looks alone or personal bias as everyone is there own person (or animals in this case), thus, everyone has there own thoughts and feelings that deserve to be acknowledged and respected. The query here has really been how do animals, which have these instincts ingrained into their very genetics, react when given consciousness to second guess their own instinct (something I think this story has done very well given the variety of perspectives).
Additionally, can I just say I have LOVED learning about Jaspers backstory!! I really enjoyed reading about his past and how he inevitably ending up meeting Vincent. It has helped tremendously to understand where both individuals are coming from leading up to this eventual conversation of Vincents’ dead pup. Personally, I think the way you depicted this scene was done perfectly (and I was a little unsure how all this would play out upon initially learning what had happened to his pup). It was not about showing needless violence for the sake of story telling, but rather, illustrating a past event that inevitably shaped Vincent into who he is today.
At the end of the day, both characters are suffering from their own form of mental suffering and existential crisis; one coping with being rejected from his family (the pack) and the loss of a mentor, and the other coping with loosing a pup and learning to trust again (Vincent technically already stated that after looking at Jasper he didn’t “understand anything about wolves anymore,” heavily implying that he is intuitive enough to understand that Jasper is different (i.e not all wolves are the same and shouldn’t be treated as such).
At the end of the day, these are both very serious issues, in their own right, and something that won’t (and shouldn’t) be resolved over the course of a chapter. Here is another way of thinking about it. Many sources will say that the average time to grieve over the loss of a loved one is 6 months to a year, but in actuality this is far from the truth. Everyone grieves in their own way and at their own pace (not to mention that persons grieving will illicit many different emotions throughout said process). Personally, I feel Jasper is used to others taking their anger/frustration out on him (given that his pack tended to break him down instead of building him up) and Vincent is angry with wolves in general after the other wolves betrayed his trust then proceeded to kill his pup (personally I think it would have been very interesting if Jasper would of been from that particular pack, but that’s just me). Regardless, If you take a step back and try to look at the whole picture you will see that it is very complexed emotions being represented in a few images/dialog so kudos to Yinller for being able to bring them all to life for us. Keep up the great work!

Definitely compelling and driven story telling that really cuts deeply into the heart. I commend your efforts. Life isn’t all rainbows and sunshine, it’s cold, dark, and terrible things that happen to good individuals each day. I believe this was and should of been shown as it’s a key issue that strongly affects one of the main characters and while I don’t necessarily like seeing such things or Vincent hitting Jasper I’m glad you chose to put in in this.
I do feel sorry for both here, first off for Vincent who obviously has some serious mental problems brought on by this horrific event, but I also feel terrible for Jasper too. He’s completely innocent and has done nothing but show Vincent kindness and generosity. The point that he also picks up a stick makes me believe this isn’t the first time he’s been beaten and was likely abused in his pack also. Very sad, all around...
With all of that I said, even though it was tough to see I’m still glad I did. I hope this will be the start of Vincent healing and him starting to see just how much Jasper has done for him.

They aren't entitled to anything for you. This is a comic. There is way worse. Stop making useless drama like you are the center of the universe. God. They'll put whatever they want in their comic. God. I understand some are more fragile. I am too. I also have PTSD but you are acting like a brat having a tantrum.

I was trying to be more neutral in my previous post, but yeah I have to agree with the other guys, I do think you are taking this too seriously. Especially since you posted quite a bit on the Discord as well about it. Trying to turn it around as some strawman that we "want to see pups put to death" is a bit out there. No one is delighting in seeing Vincent's child die. But we understand that it is an important part of the story and his character arc.

I believe invoking all types of emotions from readers when storytelling is very important. This page did make me tear up a bit and I love that a fictional series was able to get that response from me.

@Hunter - Agree on the anger. Agree on everything in this comic EXCEPT seeing a pup being dragged crying away to its death.
@Insomi-act if the internet was full of pictures of people being dragged away to their death, I'd agree with you. It's not. Content like that has a warning. If you want to jump on the 'taking it too seriously bandwagon' all I'd ask is why do you want to see a pup put to death so bad? Is that something you think everyone 'needs' to see? Is that really the kind of person you are?

Yinller please don't change your way of doing thing because of certain comments. I myself am really a fan of "dark" story elements. Do you normally tell someone who finds an image upsetting and disturbing "You're taking this too seriously"?
Is that the level of your empathy and understanding?
I completely disagree on it being necessary. I'm glad you feel the need to see the death of pups. I do not. I knew about the death of his pup, I disliked it but knew, if I knew it was coming up, I would have chosen not to see it.
Sil O'Dowd
2021-01-09 02:34:22 +0000 UTC
I honestly don't think a warning was necessary since we didn't see any actual death or blood like we did with previous chapters. I still stand by my argument about this being necessary like when we saw how much Monti's past sucked. It allows us to empathize with Vincent which is clearly what she wanted. Plus, we already know that the wolves killed his pup from again, previous chapters, so it wold make sense that she'd expand on it a bit. You may just be talking this too seriously.
Alex Talbain

I totally disagree and should have been given a warning about it at least. Honestly I can't express to you just how much this made me want to throw up and run. I just can't deal seeing that pup's death and I never wanted to see it.... Its just traumatic to watch it happen.

See what exactly? Because as far as I can tell, this was great. We finally got to see Vincent let go of some of his anger which was definitely needed if he was ever going to move on. Combine that with the fact that Jasper is willing to let Vincent take out his anger on him shows how sorry he is for what wolves did to him and that he is willing to take on all that hate if it means Vincent can find peace. This was just a really great chapter and now we can really see their relationship develop

I'm happy that Vincent got that out and that he didn't hurt Jasper too much. Now they can BOTH start healing from the pain other wolves have caused them. This chapter is one of the best by far and I'm interested in seeing where they go from here. More importantly though, at least for me, is that Vincent knows it's not right to hate ALL wolves and that blaming Jasper or taking out his anger on him isn't fair to the wolf at all.
