It wasn't the designs I had a problem with; it's that in more recent works, they're rendered in 3D and then added to the 2D character on the page. And it looks horrible.

2020-05-24 17:24:58 +0000 UTCAs for Shirow's guns, from his art books that I picked up, he used a lot of real world weapons as the basis for his designs. Just added some flanges, racks, and other bits to them to give them a "future" look.
