With my last stab at the game I was levelling up as a melee fighter. I just wanted to tank damage so I could plough through enemies and do what I really wanted to: explore.

2021-11-12 15:50:40 +0000 UTCAs you noted, the Elder Scrolls games tend to be generic fantasy. Skyrim in particular was a bit bland in that most of the map was variations of snowy wilderness. It makes the key mechanic of exploration less satisfying. I'm curious what character types you've tried. Combat gameplay is weak, so classes like melee fighter aren't that fun. There's a reason memes exist about everyone playing stealth archers.

2021-11-11 20:47:33 +0000 UTCBefore 2005, I'd only ever played FPS games via mouse/keyboard. When I finally tried to play one with a controller, it was like rubbing my stomach and patting my head. Couldn't do it. Completely different discipline. Now, there's certain FPS games I can ONLY play with a controller, like "Borderlands".

2021-11-11 17:15:40 +0000 UTCI never got into video RPGs. I did play Halo on the PC, but never got used to using a controller. I'm very right handed, so asking me to use my left thumb to move about is a disaster.
