Our Life 2: Voiced Nickname Feature
Added 2023-08-23 18:01:02 +0000 UTCWe all remember the Voiced Name feature in the Our Life series. That's a classic. It's gonna be included in Our Life: Now & Forever. People will be able to request voiced names of their choice by supporting the upcoming Kickstarter campaign.
But we know not everyone who wants a voiced name will be able to get one for various reasons. If none of the names chosen by others end up working for you, we've got a comprise prepared: the Voiced Nickname feature.
It's possible to go by a nickname in Our Life: N&F. You can choose who is allowed to call you by that nickname and even have a special nickname exclusive to your closest friend and/or partner. There's an option to type in your own entirely custom nickname, or there will be the choice to use one of the preset voiced nicknames.
Nicknames will not be something you back for; they'll be chosen by us developers and through popular player demand in order to have a broad selection that will make as many people happy as possible. There's going to be 30, potentially more, voiced nicknames to choose from.
If you can't have a name you requested yourself said out loud, you can still have a semi-personalized experience by picking out one of the many fun voiced nicknames. Maybe you want to hear Qiu call you cutie, or Tamarack call you dude, or something else!
And just like the voiced first names, you can change your nickname as time goes on. Also, you can have both a voiced name and voiced nickname active, if there's options you enjoy for each type of name.

Really? I always found it extremely endearing because I had a Mexican bf and although I am also Mexican I was adopted by white parents so I don't know ANY Spanish, he always called me "Gordita" since I'm chubby (Gordita means chubby or fat girl but is used as a term of endearment)

It might not fit that well for the characters to use a single word from another language that they don't speak. As for dark names like that, probably not. The nicknames have to be suitable for a lot of people and basing them off shows is pretty limiting.

2023-08-25 21:29:09 +0000 UTCI'm wondering, since Qiu is Chinese and Tamarack is German, I'm sure we'er going to have nick/pet name in their language but what about in other languages...? I'm Mexican and a name I been called as a little girl is nina which is just an endearing way of saying little girl. It not just used for little girls but guys can call their girls it also. Beau/Belle is another pet name that could be use which just means handsome/beautiful in French. Muñeca/Muñeco is another pet name that could be use which is just doll in Spanish, the first being a girl doll and the second being a boy doll. These are just some examples from the top of my head. Editing this since this thought just pop into my head. What if the MC like dark, silly pet names. This example is from the new Wednesday show, as Gomez called Wednesday his little rain cloud which I would go a little happy inside if I was called that by a LI. There is also ghoul/boo, Monster High inspires names.

On the one hand, it would be very cool to hear my name in the game. On the other hand, my name is super unique and no other person has a name like mine. Human names are repeated, and many humans bear the same name. Our names are unique and no one else uses the same. If someone else used my name to register on Steam or any other forum on the internet, I'd probably get angry. Therefore, on the one hand, I would like to include my name in Voiced Nickname and on the other hand, I would like to avoid it so that no one else uses it.

The link in this post will send you to the OL2 Kickstarter page, though you're not able to back it at the moment since it hasn't started. There is an option to be notified via email when the kickstarter opens. If you aren't logged in, the site will take you to a sign in page and it doubles as a sign up page if you don't have an account. When you finish, or if you already had one, it'll send you back to the page. You'll then be notified whenever the kickstarter opens.

2023-08-23 21:09:22 +0000 UTCI'm glad you like it! But I don't believe you'll be able to have multiple nicknames you can cycle through like pronouns. It will likely be limited to one nickname a person uses but getting to have different people use a different nickname. And there's a decent likelihood that the two will have certain words they use on their own that could also work as voiced nicknames, but there won't be anything that's treated as default or canon and no nickname will be put on the MC automatically.

Amazing - love, love, love this is a feature! Especially for peeps who can't get their name in there. Also: EXCLUSIVE NICKNAMES??? MELT. Two questions: Can MC have more than one nickname in a step (like: Liz, Lizzie in OL1) to cycle through, like pronouns? My Step 2 MC -- yup, I'm already thinking about it -- will have her childhood one and then a teen one. B: Will there be default/canon nicknames you come up with for Tam/Qiu to use for MC? As much as I like having the choice to make one, also love them just springing one on us(and swooning)! OMGOSH - I JUST THOUGHT OF TAM SAYING SOMETHING IN GERMAN 🤤🥴🤯
