The lore of this universe is epic and VERY vast. Not as big as the ATLA universe but still incredibly large.

So far we've seen the common night terrors and they're, kinda like the common black ants we see, but the ones in this episode are kinda the equivalent of fire ants. Also there's the cave dwelling ones we saw in the Fishlegs episode which are also different and kinda like bull ants that they're more aggressive. They're the same species but evolved differently. Also you're right the size of the egg did get better lmfao I just realized that. They mess around with the scale of things quite often in this show.
