Sisters In Control - Chapter 17

“I know what you´re thinking,” Sharon started.
What was he thinking? He was not checking her out too much, was he? He did not believe he was checking her out at all, maybe just a look at her dress, her hair, but he was not ogling at her. Suddenly, Jesse felt nervous, what was she about to say? What does she think he´s thinking?
“Yeah? And… what is it?” He replied, looking up at her, feeling nervous.
He brought a gift, chocolate, he thought things were going well. And now, with just a sentence, she´s making him nervous. She was looking down at him, the 6´3” amazon was making him nervous. Then, she bent, with a smile on her face, slowly approaching more to his level.
“You must be wondering if I´m ready, right?” That was not what he was thinking.
“Huh?” She seems ready, he wouldn´t ask her.
“Sorry, most people say I take a loooong time getting ready. But I don´t. As you can see…” she made a pause and gave a 360-degree turn. She was gorgeous, he struggled not to check out her butt when she spinned. “I´m ready. I only need my purse and I´ll get us to the restaurant.” she smiled.
He can´t deny she got him very anxious for a second, but that was just him getting worried for nothing. What´s there to worry about? She´s nice, she´s easy to talk to, this date will go on smoothly.
—
She liked to chat, that´s something he noticed while they drove to the restaurant.
At first, he was a bit upset he couldn´t be the one driving them there. He has no car, that´s his fault, but his sister, Corrie, could´ve lend him the car. He feels self-conscious, but this is much better than being driven around by his big sister.
The drive there was nice, she was mostly talking about her favorite band. That she preferred old pop music and that this band was close to that but with new lyrics.
“Don´t get me wrong, I love the 80´s songs, but the lyrics… it´s easier to relate when they talk about things from this era. You know?” He nodded.
Sharon means that it´s easier to relate to a new lyric that speaks about things that happen in modern times. The way people meet, what they talk about, the places they go. Everything has changed.
And it has also changed for Jesse. Who would´ve thought he´d be on a date with such a gorgeous lady? A date to which HE asked her out to. Now, he feels butterflies on his stomach, but they feel so right…
—
It was not hard to find a table at the restaurant. It was not that kind of fancy restaurant that needs a reservation because it´s the big deal now and everyone wants to visit. It was a nice place, but it wasn´t packed.
They found a table and sat on it. Soon, they presented them the menus and they began to check on them.
They looked up, their eyes met for a moment and they shared a smile. Was he actually on a date with her? This was not a dream?
Soon, they ordered. He picked a steak with a baked potato on the side, plus some veggies. And she ordered grilled chicken with veggies.
A little bit of wine wouldn´t be bad. She made a little joke to the waiter, that he shouldn´t give her too much or someone would have to carry her home. He giggled. She was so open, so fun, a contrast to him; shy and quiet, that´s his most common nature.
He was just trying to think on the moment, to live in the present, look around and see all that´s here right now. And then, she broke the silence…
“Ok, chocolate or vanilla?” Sharon asked.
This was unexpected, hadn´t they just ordered the meal? What was she saying?
“Sorry?” He asked, what was she asking?
“Ice-cream, are you more of a vanilla ice-cream guy, or chocolate ice-cream guy?” Sharon asked.
He was confused, ice-cream? Why does that matter? Was this some sort of thing like, if he prefers chocolate he´s this way, and if he likes vanilla he´s that way? Everyone likes chocolate, and also vanilla.
Would choosing vanilla mean he´s a regular guy? Everyone goes for that flavor because it´s safe to say it´s good. And chocolate, does that mean he takes risks? Sometimes it´s amazing, sometimes it´s not. Was this a test?
Kyle was kind of glad she was not so serious, this seems to be like an ice-breaker, she´s only trying to know him by asking silly questions. But how silly is silly?
His sign? Does she care if he´s a Libra? Capricorn? Taurus? He knows nothing about that.
The best thing to do is to be honest. Just say the truth, if she likes the answer, cool and if she doesn´t, there should be no problem. The main issue might be the ideas he´s putting on his mind right now.
“Vanilla. For Ice-cream, I prefer vanilla.” Jesse declared.
“Great!” Sharon cheered, “I´m glad, I have this HUGE bucket at my freezer, maybe we can skip dessert here and head to my place?” Was this an invitation to eat ice-cream or was this an invitation to her place? To eat “dessert”.
“Sounds good.” What awaits him at her place? Is this some sort of way to tell him this date should work out? A promise, if he´s a gentleman, worth it, that there will be something better ahead? A happy ending?
“Yeah… sorry, I didn´t mean… I´m not like… rushing things, am I? Because, I often do it, and kind of scare people… you´re not scared, are you?” Sharon asked.
Well, it was kind of unexpected, but what does she mean by rush? Maybe she´s got another idea in her mind right now? Maybe it´s too soon, at the beginning of the date, to invite him over to her place?
All he can tell is that she´s nice. Fun, sincere, and she cares about what she says; maybe a bit too conscious on what other people think, but there´s no problem in that, right? If there´s a red flag here, he can´t see it.
“No, don´t worry. I think… it´s cute.” He said.
A smile was immediately drawn on Sharon´s face, followed by a not so loud but not so discreet giggle.
“Me? Haha, sorry, I think it´s fun for the short guy to call the tall lady cute…” What did she just say?
Maybe Sharon´s too honest, or she doesn´t care at all on what she says. She didn´t say this in order to be offensive, but she just called him a short guy. How does she know he´s not worried about his height? Insecure on his size?
Sharon might´ve been rude and not notice. But she did, she noticed, too late. Now, she´s looking at him, with her eyes widely open, knowing very well she messed up.
“Sorry! I didn´t… I didn´t mean you were short, it´s just that, I´m tall and… taller than you, and others! Not just you… I…” With each word she says, every word she adds, she´s just messing up more.
“No, don´t worry. I… it happens, you know. I´m…” what is he supposed to do? Did she call him short? Or is she just saying she´s tall? “Maybe… can we start over? Pretend it didn´t happen?” She´s so pretty, and she seems easy to talk to, he wouldn´t allow a comment to ruin his date. And she seems apologetic, so he´ll let it slide.
“I think it´ll be nice. Yeah, we should do it.” She was thankful, she feels so bad she insulted him, but she can find a way to make amends.
It was nice to know he didn´t mind the insult, and it was nice for him to know she was… well, she doesn´t seem to think too much before she speaks. Maybe she´s a bit impulsive? Or just spontaneous?
Maybe she´s nervous? But, why would she? She´s literally a 6´3” woman dating a 5´5” man, and he doesn´t have a huge confidence that contrasts his size.
—
Leaving this small incident aside, the date went on pretty normal. Well, until…
“Mmm, this chicken is so tender. And so tasty.” She said.
Sharon ordered chicken, and he ordered steak. And it seems she´s really enjoying it.
“Is it?” He asked.
“Mhmm, it is. Wanna try it?” she asked.
“Well…” he didn´t really mean to steal food from her.
“I insist, try some!” she would not take a no for an answer, so he should agree.
“Fine, if you don´t mind. But a little, I don´t want to take that much food from your plate.” He said.
“Don´t worry.” He thought she was going to let him take a small piece from her plate, but he was wrong.
She cut a piece, he was looking, wondering if she´ll approach her plate or if he should go on and grab it himself.
He stood there for a second, with his fork in hand, and he slowly rose his arm.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“I… chicken?” didn´t they agree to do this? That she´ll give him a piece?
“No, silly, I´ll feed it to you, come closer.” She´ll feed it to him? She´ll grab her fork and feed it to him?
He only let this happen, he bent forward, opened his mouth and let her put the chicken inside.
“Yes, there you go. Tasty, right?” she asked while he chewed.
He smiled and nodded. This was normal, right? Well, maybe between a couple, but they… this is their first date. Maybe she is rushing things? Maybe she likes to go too fast? She´s not mean, or annoying, however, how will things be in the long term? And, would there even be a long term?
—
Sharon´s just sweet, right? Maybe she likes to talk a bit too much, or she´s just nervous and she´s saying things out loud just because? He has no idea, but he will not let this ruin their date.
However, this date was close to being over. Their plates were empty. She insisted on him finishing every bit of it, why? Well, as she explained.
“All dishes are balanced, they have protein, fiber and carbs. Now, you need to eat it all in order to get all of the benefits the food will give you. I don´t want you to be one of those men who only eat the beef, ok? I´m a nurse, I know better.” that seemed a bit unnecessary.
First of all, that´s something Corrie has always say to him, so he knows. But he will never say that out loud. And second, was this some way to dominate him?
Does she want to set the rules? He´s so confused. Did she pick him because he´s a man she can easily dominate? Because she´s much bigger than him? Taller, possibly stronger? That´s kind of mean. Or maybe she just wants a man who doesn´t try to dominate her, could that be it? Who doesn´t try to tell her what to do, to try and dictate how things would be.
Or she´s just trying to make sure he´s nourished because she´s a nurse who cares about people? The last sounds as a better answer. A nicer explanation.
Back to the date, the food was over, but they still had a little wine. This was a moment to think, what to do?
“So, Sharon. Would you like some dessert?” He asked.
Sharon smiled and replied, “Well, Jesse, I do. But not here.” Did she just mimic him by calling him by his name as he did with her? Was that silly on his side?
“Not… here?” he asked.
“Did you forget already? I have ice-cream at my place. Let´s pay the bill and get going.” That sounds like a plan.
Jesse called the waiter and ask him for the check. A moment later he was back, carrying a leather-like folder with the bill inside.
“Here´s your bill.” He said, standing in between them.
It was obvious he´ll be paying. He´s not old fashioned as to say he has to pay because he´s the man, he will because that´s what a gentleman does. To treat her as the lady she is.
“Let me take care of it.” Jesse said, slowly going for the check.
“Nah-ah. No, mister. I got it.” She said, reaching out for it.
The waiter, who was right in the middle, just let go as they both reached for it. He was smarter, and he rapidly said: “I´ll come back in a moment, to let you both decide.” And he made his way out.
Now, this is the moment when Jesse insists and pays for the meal. After all, he´s the one who asked her out.
“I´ll take care of it. I´m the one who asked you out. Since this was my idea, I should pay…” he said, trying to pull, but he was unable to move the check, not even one inch.
Sharon´s grip on it was tight, and her arm was surely stronger than his. She won´t let go, unless she wants to.
“I insist. Don´t worry.” Sharon said, not letting go of the check.
Jesse was in a predicament right now. It will be really hard, maybe impossible to take it off of her hand. But he will also struggle to convince her to let him pay. What to do?
Well, she made this decision for both. As soon as he applied a bit more strength, she pulled hard and took the check off his hand. With a smile, one that means she´s not trying to be mean, but that this is a gesture of kindness. But it could also be a mock of victory.
She pulled out her credit card and called the waiter as she put it on top of the bill.
“Here you go.” She handed the waiter the check and this was it.
Was this a defeat? She only pulled harder, and it didn´t seem as if she was actually pulling really hard. He was the one who´s supposed to pay, now he´s sitting there feeling like a loser. She drove them here, she´ll take care of dessert, and she´s also paying? Where does that leave him? What does he have left? A box of chocolates? Does that compensate all she´s done?
“I know, sorry. I didn´t mean to take the check off your hands. I just… I like to provide, to help others. That´s why I´m a nurse.” she explained.
Of course she noticed the look of defeat on his face. It was clear that this was not how he wanted things to be. To him, she´s giving so much, what does he have left?
“Don´t be so sad. Maybe you can make up at my place…” she smiled, but this smile had a bit more spice on it.
Jesse blinked, and then, he smiled. He was eager to find out.
—
What´s the first thing they did at her place? Dessert.
And no, it was no “dessert”, she left her purse and walked straight to the kitchen.
“You can wait here, have a sit at the couch. I´ll go grab us some bowls of ice-cream. Vanilla ice-cream…” she smiled and turned, walking straight towards her kitchen.
He can´t deny that a part of him was eager to find out if she was really going for ice-cream, or if there was something hotter in her mind.
A moment later, she came back, with two equal bowls of ice-cream. One in each hand. She took a sit next to him and handed the bowl.
Well, when she said she had dessert at home, she literally meant the ice-cream she mentioned.
But this is cool, it´s nice. A creamy texture, a nice flavour. Maybe it´s her way to say things will be easy going? She mentioned she often rushed things, is this her way to try and change? He wouldn´t mind going a bit too fast, if that means some action, but it´s up to her.
She dug into her ice-cream bowl, and so did him. For a moment, no one spoke, she just ate and smiled at him. It seems she wants to take things slowly, to enjoy the moment. This sweet moment, as sweet as the ice-cream they are now eating.
He was half-way through the bowl when he noticed she was almost done. And then, she spoke.
“I really enjoyed our time at the restaurant.” she started, driving the last spoonful of icecream to her mouth.
“It was nice, I liked it too.” he started, “But… I think I should´ve been the one paying.” A small loss, one he can´t get over yet.
“Sorry, I didn´t know it would mean that much to you.” Sharon started, putting her empty bowl on the coffee table in front of the couch.
“No, I mean, it´s not that big of a deal.” he said.
“But, it is. I think I´ve hurt your feelings.” she said, coming closer to him, and then, with a more sensuous tone, she added, “but I believe I said you could make it up to me once we got back to my place…” she said nothing more and just bent.
She came closer and closer to him. Soon, her face was right in front of his. He was paralyzed, what was she doing?
Sharon stopped, right in front of him, their eyes met at the same level. He breathed in, his heart was speeding inside his chest. Then, she closed her eyes and put her lips over his.
The bowl of ice-cream slowly fell to the side as she kissed him. Apparently, things won´t be going as slow as he thought.
She was slowly moving on top of him. Her hands were not on his shoulders. This amazon, the sensuous lady was kissing him so passionately that he had forgotten where he was. He even forgot the ice-cream that was slowly melting at his side, but it was not nearly as hot as he was.
