Falling For The Milf - Chapter 3

After waiting for longer than he would´ve wanted, but not more than he minded, they met.
Ben was about to meet his best friend, after such a long wait, after not being in the same town in ages, he was going to meet Dylan.
Sometimes it´s hard to conceive something like this. How could it be? They were best friends, they chatted weekly, at best, through texts. And they were unable to meet for dinner? Not just dinner, lunch, breakfast, anything! It was hard for Dylan to find time on his schedule to meet a friend, his best friend.
This is not something Ben minds, this is the adult life, sometimes there´s things that can wait. The bad thing here is, sometimes when those things wait, whenever they actually get to you, the thrill is gone. And that feeling you had, that euphoria, that melancholy, that hope, it just hits different.
And sometimes… it vanishes.
Ben and Dylan were best friends since forever. Ben understands that Dylan has a tight schedule, that he can´t just squeeze a time to hang out with him whenever he feels like it. He´s got a great job, he´s working his way up, but that also means sacrifices.
Ben knows, at least he hopes, that this won´t be awkward. How much can someone change in such little time?
It´s not been so long since they hang out, right? This should be casual, right? Well, then why does he feel worse than if he was about to go into a job interview?
Meeting an old friend is good, it feels nice! But there´s a couple of things to keep in mind when doing such.
There´s no need to make a good impression, the first impression they have of you took place a long time. They know exactly who each other is. However, who are they now? The same guys that went to college together? Not exactly.
Something to keep in mind, something that only comes to mind when you´re feeling insecure is… who´s more successful?
The answer to this question is easy, Dylan´s the most successful out of them both. Is it something Ben minds? Well… he was hoping he did not, but he cares.
—
It was an awful feeling. Why does he care more about who´s more successful than to meet Dylan?
Ben spent a good time of that day wondering things he should not. Or at least that were not good for him.
Things such as, does it make him less of a man not to be where Dylan is? Does it make him a loser? Should he be somewhere else in life right now?
It was very hard for Ben to ask his parents if he could move back with them, even if it was just for a while, until he finds a new “gig”. A new job that pays enough for him to afford a real rent, and a real transportation other than the bus or to borrow his mom´s car. And now, this reunion with Dylan, it makes him feel worse than that!
To Ben, it seems that Dylan´s, not just doing good, but achieving so much more than others! And him, well… Ben feels that he´s given three steps back from where he should. That Dylan´s far ahead of him and he´s back to where it all started, back to where he should´ve started.
To Ben, it seems that in this game of life, he just picked the wrong card and lost all of the upgrades he worked for. And he was back at the beginning, watching all other players far ahead of him over the board.
—
Ben´s worries didn´t decrease as he walked into the restaurant Dylan picked.
Can you guess how it is? What comes to mind? Well, fancy is the right word. Expensive is another one that soon pops up.
Ben found himself walking into a restaurant like none other he´s seen. A place with a ballet parking outside, which he didn´t need since he took a cab over here. A place where, any place you turn at, you can see marble. The floor, in the walls, even pillars of marble! Several waiters, well-dressed, like the ones they usually picture in cartoons or in series.
Waiters who actually ask you how you are, who compliment your choices when ordering, who come and go walking perfectly straight. One would thing they are robots because of the way they move and talk. So correct.
In the middle of the restaurant, there was a fountain, and yes, it was a marble fountain.
Ben felt so off there. The people who were there. Ben could tell they had money. He could say they were rich, he knew there were people here who were doing more than just fine.
So far, he was just walking in, he had stepped less than ten-feet in and he could already feel so overwhelmed, who eats here?
An old man surrounded by women about his age, all of them laughing of whatever he was saying. A sugar daddy, for sure. A loaded man who was surrounded by women who could me models.
A couple others wearing sunglasses inside the place. There wasn´t that much light in here to be forced to wear sunglasses, could they be famous people trying to keep a low profile? Trying not to be recognized? Most likely.
People wearing expensive suits, designer dresses, jewelry that costs more than whichever car he´s ever driven. Where is he right now?
“May I help you, sir?” Came a voice from his side.
“Huh?” He said as he turned at this man, standing behind a counter by his side, a couple feet away.
What´s his business here? Everyone knows not to be that rude to ask it that way, employees knew. That´s why he offered his help. Ben was off here, and not just because of the way he´s feeling, but because of the way he looks.
He doesn´t seem like the kind of person who´ll eat here, or who can afford eating here, at least. His shoes are not made of leather, his pants are not over three-digits worth, his shirt´s… worn. Not too much, but you can see he´s washed it more than once before giving it away, unlike the people here.
He seems like a normal person, not a business-man, not a rich guy; not some entrepreneur, artist, someone with a high rank on the government. He´s close to… no one.
“Do you have a reservation here, sir?” The gentleman asked.
Ben walked towards this man. A man who´s probably in his forties, or early thirties. Dressed similarly to the waiters, but with a few distinctives. A blazer, a tie, denoting he was above them in rank.
“I´m here to meet a friend.” He said, smiling at him. If he´s learned something from his past jobs is that, no matter what, you should reflect confidence. Even when you´re not feeling as confident as you might seem.
“And, do you have a reservation?” The guy asked, not meaning to make much conversation. He was just trying to see if he had any business here, or if he was just in the way for people who actually had.
“Oh… well. I don´t know.” He giggled. “I mean, I´m sure there´s one… if that´s what you need to be here. Nice place, by the way.” Ben added, as he took a step closer and leaned over the desk.
The guy just rose an eyebrow as Ben leaned, placing his shoulder on the counter. “Under who´s name is the reservation?” He asked, trying to get Ben out of here, or away, at least.
“Hmm… good question. Maybe… Dylan? Or Ben? Benson, maybe?” He said.
“Last name?” the man asked, since the name alone was not much information.
“Right. Benson Thorn? Does that ring any bells on the computer?” He spoke.
“No.” The man replied, dryly as he wrote the name as he was saying it.
“No? Well… maybe it´s under Dylan´s name. Try this, Dylan Silver, I´m sure he made a reservation. I mean, he´s the kind of man who would foresee this. Hehe…”
“Mr. Silver? You know him?” The man seemed surprise, his expression of displease became one of curiosity. He didn´t even check on the computer, he knew the name. He knew his friend.
“Know him? We´re best friends.” He gave that some thought.
This place, the way the guy here just asked him. Has Dylan changed that much?
Who was him now? A man who can afford this place? What had Dylan been up to while Ben was gone? Did Ben took the wrong decision?
And now, a final question, can he still say Dylan´s his best friend? What if he hanged out with his co-workers more than he´s ever done with him? What if he´s now the kind of man that plays golf on Sundays? Golf with the boss? Drives a sports car just because he can afford it? Lives in a mansion?
What has happened? Could he change this much?
—
The man double-checked. Only to be sure which table he picked.
“The usual.” He smiled. “Please, follow me.” He said.
The usual? Dylan comes here often? He´s well-known, it seems.
As Ben was walked to the table by this man, he wondered, has this much changed?
He was not as successful as he wanted. He was not the one who knew about this place. He thought that life was going to be different for him. He was trying to speed-run the whole thing. At least the part where he makes money and gets rich.
Someone who could afford a place like this. Someone who wore the expensive things people here wears. The man who´s surrounded by pretty ladies who laugh at his jokes.
But, once again, he wondered, is that really what he wants? Is that the actual meaning of life? The meaning he wants to give his life?
Ben knows Dylan, he knows the kind of person he is. Or was.
He didn´t invite him here because he wanted to show off. It´s most likely that he likes the place. Maybe he just wanted to invite him to a nice place? Perhaps, a good place to meet a good friend? A special place for a special friend?
What has Ben been thinking all along? Dylan´s… Dylan, there´s no way he´ll ever become avaricious, a show-off. No way he became greedy or arrogant.
—
“Here´s our menu, Sir. Would you like to order or wait for Mr. Silver?” The waiter asked. And even he knew Dylan was coming.
“I think I´ll wait.” He decided.
Giving Ben enough time to wonder about another meaning in life. Love.
Money´s nice, sure, but that´s not all. Love´s also an important part of life.
Who to love? That´s a good question. And where to find love? If there could be a place, where would there be? What´s the right answer?
The right answer doesn´t exist, actually, but Ben´s got his own answer. At least he has an idea of what he wants. Of who his hopes for love are set into.
And yes, it was going to be an awkward part of the night when he tells Dylan. A part of this reunion will be, hopefully it doesn´t ruin it but, it´ll be a confession from Ben. That he´d like to date Dylan´s mother.
Ben turned around, in the search of how love was.
When he turned at the old man surrounded by those ladies, women Ben´s age. He could see they were all laughing, but were they really?
This was just a facade, a mask they put on. They were all hanging out with him only because of his money. He´s not that good-looking of a man. Maybe like a man in his sixties who takes care of his hair and regularly exercises, but he´s not the kind of man that, based on looks, could get four sexy ladies at his table.
It was money, they were just there because of money. Does he pay them? He wouldn´t say he hired them, but there´s a certain relationship here. The one where he gives, and they all take. In exchange, they must laugh, they must stay around him, and sex is not out of the deal.
A bunch of women in their twenties, around an old man, only because of money. Was this what love was all about? Ben refuses to think on that.
The lack of money is the reason why his last relationship didn´t work out. He was “not as successful” as she wanted him to be. As she needed him to be.
But, if that was the case, then he´s glad things didn´t work out. That´s not true love, and he needs true love.
—
As Ben was looking for a different example of love, a better one, something caught his eyes.
More than something, it was someone, two people actually. A man, with grey in his hair, and a mustache on his face. Round glasses on his face, and yes, a nice suit on him. Of a fancy brown, mahogany? Dark mahogany? Beneath, a black shirt, and a red tie. However, his suit was the least interesting thing here.
Next to him walked a tall woman, a really tall one! And she´s the one who caught his eye!
How could she not? This man was about his height, 6´1” maybe, and this lady was over a full-head taller! Seven-feet-tall? Eight?! She wore heels, but even without them, she´s an amazon!
Wearing a red dress that matches the man´s tie. Holding his hand as they walk. Carrying an expensive purse on the other hand. Her hair, long, golden, and her face, the beauty of a mature woman.
Maybe she´s younger than him, but if he´s on his fifties, and looking good for that age, she´s in her early forties, at most! It was hard to look at her face with her bouncing boobs calling for his attention.
He knew better to keep his eyes for himself, but he just couldn´t! She was a muse! The way she walked, the way her curves move, her beauty. She was imposing, gorgeous. She caught his attention, and the one of many others.
Could this amazon be with him because he´s rich? Well, the man´s also good-looking. And the way they hold hands, they way they walk. They are a couple, walking together happily.
He took quick glances at them. Just to know more about their relationship.
Was she with him because he was rich? Or was there true love? Well, it seems this is true love. They seemed to have a regular conversation. They seemed to enjoy each other´s company.
They seemed to be married. He could see a ring on his finger, and a ring on hers as well. The way she touched his arm, how her long fingers caressed him. The way her eyes look at him. How she smiles at him, they are married. They seem happy together, they seem to enjoy being with each other.
And that´s exactly what he wants. Love, this kind of love.
—
After a while, Ben felt weird.
Was he actually going to spend all night just looking around at others like a creep? He was not just casually looking at them, he was kind of studying them!
Mostly because he wanted to see if these rich people had it all. If they had found happiness. And… maybe they had, in their own ways. Whether they live in a lie, or if they are actually happy.
Whatever this was, there´s a question in his mind, when will Dylan arrive?
“Sorry, I received a very important call. But I´m on my way! I´ll be there shortly.” He received this message about half-an-hour ago.
Dylan was not going to cancel on him, right?
A part of Ben felt sad. Was this how life was going to be from now on? Friends can´t meet just as they used to? They were both single, he thinks, he has no idea if Dylan´s seeing someone; how could this be if they were married? If they had a family on their own?
Does life set people away this way? As you get older, does it get so hard to meet a friend?
Just as he was lost on his, now more frequent, thoughts of despair. Dylan arrived.
Ben smiled as he saw his friend at the distance. However, he also noticed he looks different.
Dylan´s hair, it was longer than usual, and pulled back with… gel? Hair wax? He was also wearing a suit, a nice one. With a color, of a navy-blue, but the fabric, the elegance, that´s not just any suit.
His shoes were black and polished. He was wearing a silver watch, and a tie. Didn´t Dylan once said he hated ties? That it makes it feel like someone´s trying to strangle him? Has he changed this much?
Ben couldn´t help his joy, after so long, he just stood up and hugged him.
“I missed you, man!” Ben was sincere, and so was Dylan.
“It´s been way too long…” He replied, putting a hand on his back and pulling him closer.
Good friends, they seem to be good friends still.
Money can change you, but it can´t change you that much.
Ben chatted with Dylan, just as they did on the old days. A few topics were different, but this was the same old Dylan, and Ben was glad about it.
A friend, his best friend, finally a chance to catch up. Finally a moment to enjoy thinking on their old days. Sure, even when they are not so old, they can still call them old days, right? Or not-so-old-days, at least.
However, as they chatted, Ben couldn´t help but to think… could this be a good time to chat about his intentions? Maybe… if Dylan mentions their love situation currently… it could be a nice moment to bring it up.
Ben wants to date Dylan´s mom, and nothing can change his mind. As he glares at the tall lady behind Dylan, he knows, only an old-fashioned woman can give him the love he wants.
Could this ruin the night? Let´s hope not…
