TA: How Witchcraft works

Anon asks: How does witches magic work? Is it like old school practical with recipes and spells or more like Scarlet Witch?

So, a mix of both actually!

Technically, Witches should fall into warlocks, as around half of their power comes from their power, except it's a technicality. Warlocks deal with devils, and other creatures of that same powers, while Witches stick to having demon familiars to get them some power and then the rest is Witch practices.

We're working on letting the Witch make charms and potions and learning recipes and rituals to help them through the game, as a fun bonus alongside getting to play with their powers. It's coming along slowly but surely!

All witches do some witchcraft to an extent, even Starling who does rituals. There are Witches WITHOUT the familiars, but they are at a disadvantage.

The magic classes are hard to tell apart at times, but there are a few. Blood Witches should fall more into sorcerers, but they have a history of witchcraft and familiars, alongside a hereditary advantage. For the accused student origin, the training they undertake its far more similar to Wizards, and depending on where the students end up, clerics, except here they're called Scribes and Listeners, and they're kept a close eye on.

Warlocks, of course, incredibly hated, on par with Witches.

Also Witchcraft is both studied and given. Starling never was going to study to be a Witch, never practiced Witchcraft, but one day noticed they were having an effect on the world around them, and they were shipped off to be tagged.
