Professional YouTuber Vlog Day 5 -- The Brain Dump

This is the second step of my creative process, after researching and before writing.

**I say during the video that I put it “on a single page” — but in the writing program I use (Scrivener) a “single page” can be as long as you need it to be. I’ve never printed out my brain dump, but it’s almost always longer than the actual script.

Cool, thank you so much! DFTBA! P.S. I checked and I'm pretty sure you can also make unlisted playlists, so the content can stay exclusive to patrons :)

Thanks for that!! I’ll check it out!

Good idea. Also, I have consistently posted a facebook audio for the past 12 days. I'm proud of myself!!

I get that these have to be unlisted, but I wish there was an easier way to access these bonus videos. I almost never check Patreon so I only see there's a new video when I get an email, and then I have to click through and possibly have to log in again and try to remember my password, then it might not lead me to the video anymore, etc... just a lot of steps, especially for us brains. Anyway, is it possible for you to put them in a playlist that we could save to our own youtube accounts? That way I would be able to check more often and it would be much easier to watch. Thanks!

Second that. "The Power of Habit" helped me a lot in terms of understanding how bad and good habits form and what it takes to change a habit. A serious and lengthy book, I got through it by listening to the audiobook version. Highly recommend, too late for the upcoming episode but a good source nevertheless.

Brain dumps are awesome, I don't use them nearly enough. One tip about habits: If you've not read it yet "The Power of Habit" ByCharles Duhigg is an amazing resource and pretty easy to read.

Very helpful! Thanks!

I write a lot of papers in college and I have been using this method since my sophomore year. A professor taught it to me and it helps me to organize my thoughts as I'm writing along with allowing me to come up with ideas I wouldn't otherwise if I forced myself to write them.

I'll add one thing to this -- when I'm having trouble with the brain dump, I know I haven't a) done enough research or b) given myself enough time to process it. And I'll go back in and do more until my brain feels full enough to spill stuff out onto the page. I try not to force it.
