Have you ever considered consulting with Richard Lavoier? He has been an educator for "LD" (learning disabled) kids for almost 50 years now (I think) and has done numerous workshops and seminars. He's been the principal of a special school for a very long time. He might have some tips for you on age appropriateness of language.
