Cleaning to audiobooks, podcasts or other external stimulation still works well for me. If he's trying to clean alone, maybe he can set up a voice recorder and let himself go :D :D :P

I love the working with the timer. I list 6 things , give a time say 15 minutes, roll a virtual dice and try to beat the timer. It is fun to do with other people and list what you did to cheer others on. There are many games, times, and then check in times. You start at like top of the hour and check in at say 45 50 or 55. You list your accomplishments or I blew it this time. Everybody encourages other people, because making a phone call can be the biggest challenge. The fly lady used to have boards. I started to notice some strange things. It was should I say non task oriented subjects that were not family friendly or frankly very weird. I use all the strategies and the chat was closed down. Maybe one day the discord could have something like that:) It helps and people give a lot of good ideas. Great video!!!!! The struggle is real. The strategies are real:)

Before finding your YouTube channel and experiencing these vlogs, I've never once thought about why cleaning was so hard for me. I've always been the person who will let dishes pile up in the sink (and other places), laundry piles up until I run out of underwear, vacuuming seems impossible, and why I'd rather be locked in a small cage all day than dust my apartment. Like you said, it actually physically hurts to do these things! But as I've gotten to know my brain, I've been slowly finding things that work. Loud, fast music (like super fast music like Power Metal) is a motivator for me to get my house clean. I've also realized that trying to clean during the evening or at night, after my meds have worn off, is a battle I am literally never going to win. So, I don't get much cleaning done during the work week, but I can kick butt on the weekends!

Great Vid. Yes, it's always changing--that thing that keeps me moving. Thanks and for new debate with Edward: Mac vs PC---duh, PC is limitless with Linux. Windows is the stumbling point of PC. Proprietary thinking is not the way of the future, it is Open Source!

That last point about "what works today may not work tomorrow" is really important for me. I'm collecting new techniques to accomplish same task for when I have to adapt to the ADHD brain saying "Nope. Not this time." I've found the corollary to that is that I can go back to what stopped working last month and it's different enough that it works again. Cycling through the different techniques - listening to music, to podcasts, to audiobooks, and back around again, for example - can help extend that novelty contribution to cajoling my ADHD brain when it says "I don' wanna."
