One week is fast for me too! But like Jess mentions in the video, the degree of change is different for everyone. This includes the time frame, as well. For some people it may take a couple of weeks, for others a couple of months, for others still maybe even longer. 🧡 Then for those lucky people, it maybe takes a week -- and it may change depending on what change you're doing! Some tasks may ingrain faster than others. 😊

Thank you so much for sharing! Yeah, the degree of change sometimes is from things we can't control and we have to be careful not to try and actively change *too* much if we have external change happening that's throwing us off as well. That's something I wish someone would've told me sooner for sure!!
Kudos to you for all the progress you've been making!! Being kind to ourselves can go a long way. 🧡

I relate to this immensely. I bought a therapy course to help my relationship with my partner -- for issues related to my ADHD that have since been solved by acknowledging that I have ADHD (I'm a late in life diagnosis as in yesterday) -- and never once did the course but saved it for NOT NOW when I was sure I'd have the time and energy to do it.

The pattern of starting and crashing on resolutions or new habits is one I am quite familiar with. The way you laid it all out makes a ton of sense and it absolutely has me thinking about how to find the goal I want and break that down into feasible "one-degree" steps. Thanks, as always!
P.S. I noticed you have the same wall hanging I've had for years of the rope bridge going out to the tree. My wife and I got our from IKEA years and years ago and it's traveled with us through five different living spaces. :)

Perfect timing for this great advice. I just started a new sleep routine that is going to “fix everything,” and I was not being nice to myself this morning when it didn’t go as planned. Realized I need to start with just one degree. Feeling better already! Thanks!

This is really helpful. Even coaches (I'm a writer's coach and editor) need coaching as well! I am pleased with three months of learning German during the pandemic, and with the help pre-Christmas of a fitness coach, did exercise three times a week, but became distracted by my new ukulele gift. (No, I have not continued learning since I had my nails done on St. Valentine's day. ADHD is real, no joke!)

Also I wanted to ask … the video mentions working on one change per week when it comes to ADHD strategies …. That seems fast to me, is that fast? Maybe I misunderstood lol. Personally I need multiple weeks if not months for any change!

Thank you for putting this together so beautifully! This is so true and something I’ve only recently been able to start accepting. I started CoPilot in January thanks to HowToADHD and I’m still doing 2 days per week, because I can tell even that is not ingrained yet … but it is starting to be, and this is the longest streak I’ve ever kept up with working out at home! And I’m losing weight anyway, even if it’s slow.
I’ve also realized that I need to accept when there are changes in my life outside of my control (e.g. suddenly having to drive over an hour to work 3 days / week after 2+ years at home), or I’m experiencing other stressors (e.g. my dad is sick) I can’t expect myself to make other changes at the same time. I’m (finally) learning to be proud about continuing to work out despite these other changes / stressors, and not falling apart as often as I might have in the past - because I’m at least giving myself grace.

I went to the trouble of downloading them so that one day in the future whenever that is I can sit down and read them all and do the whole three months in one day LOL

I bought a three month a stop procrastinating program it had daily reading and activities I actually went through the entire three months and never even started it and I had emails every day and I never open them
