Catch - WorkDoc

Background info on the Catch project

In this short story, we follow the erotic adventure of Tommy. We meet him on an early autumn morning when he’s on his way to the city centre for a workshop. During his journey, he notices several adverts for Catch, a new hyperlocal, real-time dating app for men only. The ever-curious and always in for a bit of fun, Tommy installs the app, sets his most intimate preferences and activates the radar. With great expectations, he starts to look around. Eventually, when least expected and at the most inconvenient place, the alarm goes off. He has a catch, and the match is perfect!

NOTE: You can download a PDF version of this WorkDoc at the bottom of this post. This was made by Andrea, and you can find a complete version of his beautiful project on the Priapus Encyclopedia page.

The story starts with a broad view of the city, and we slowly follow the main character through the subway, into a hotel at the city centre, where we eventually reach the main stage of this story: a tiny elevator cabin. This enclosed space is the perfect spot for that perfect match, and what follows is an intimate and passionate first encounter. Or is it the first?...

The Settings

To bring this series to life, I used a large array of models: two large city centres, a subway train, several subway stations, a hotel lobby, an elevator and passage set, a street of NY, and a NY apartment model. The whole opening scene is perhaps a bit overdone, but I guess I just like to set the story in a broader, somewhat more elaborate setting. You can view some more of the scenes and settings for this project in this short video.

The Characters

The main characters are Tommy, an all-American, boy-next-door kind of guy, and John, his somewhat older and serious businessman lover. According to the app, they’re both bent for each other in their most intimate desires, and in this series, I tried to show the encounter between the two in a less explicit and more romantic and erotic way. For this series of around 100 images, there are 78 different poses for the main character alone, and you can see some of them in more detail in this short video.

No problem and no effort at all, I went through all of this before for the soundtracks of my projects ;o)

Wow, that was more than I bargained for, thank you very much! You put a lot of effort into this!

Folk

Well, to be honest, I don't know much about music, and all these tunes are from websites that offer royalty-free instrumental background music, specially made for video and game editing. Here are just a few: • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb2F5YW211I4LIv7_mQllJg • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7HrSC4_8lxKa1ZK5gXzc-w • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkRrhwhJ2Ia_ZlkTQ4XFWJA As for making them. Well, probably a lot is done with Adobe Audition, but there are free open source programs as well and they can be quite good: • https://helpx.adobe.com/audition/how-to/music-editor.html • https://www.musicianonamission.com/best-free-audio-editor As for sounds and tunes, there’s an enormous amount of archives out there offering music and sounds, even for free. Just quick search will get you tons of material: • https://soundscrate.com/ • https://www.factmag.com/2018/04/20/bbc-sound-effects-archive-download/ • https://freemusicarchive.org/genre/Sound_Art And then there’re of course the instruction videos on YouTube on how to do this. These are just the first few I found, I’m sure there’re more and better ones out there. But it gives an idea. Looks complicated to me, but I hope it helps ;o) • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E19whSTwdYI&ab_channel=RealityCheckVR • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrZMt0QjrII&ab_channel=MyStonerMind

I just watched your short video on the Catch settings. Like in many other videos, there is a pleasant underlying tune in it. How is it generated? It's very much a computer melody. I would like to generate tunes and melodies like that but don't know where to start my search for a suitable software or tune archive.
