Liberal govt protects "life and property," ensuring that anything which inhibits profiteering and private capital accumulation is disrupted and removed. Instead of the word "liberal," I'd say that the govt shutdown targets social democratic functions that protect non-capitalist income & service supports. Trump, the Clintons, & Obama are liberals, no matter what rhetoric (white-nationalist social democracy or leftwing social democracy) they deploy. Capitalism - which includes & requires imperialism, surveillance, and prison, and which has liberalism as its ideological & operational default - will be supported. Social democratic functions will be commodified & dismantled.
