News Brief: Muellerites and The Great Disappointment

Comments

A) You're right, I should have chosen my words better. But again, we don't know what the report actually says about collusion, only what Barr says the report says about collusion (keeping in mind that there’s no crime called “collusion”). B) I don't know—although Mueller in particular is not a press guy and might have some perverse sense of duty about not talking to the press—but what sense does it make to investigate for two and a half years if it isn't going anywhere? C) If the report did in fact support the conclusion that there was no collusion, why wouldn’t Barr and the Trump administration be waving the text of it in everyone’s faces?

(A) no one said there was no crimes, we said the report didn’t find collusion, which is the same thing the NYT said. (B) Why would Mueller and scores of investigators let the NYT and dozens of other media outlets (including the RussiaGate friendly WaPo and Daily Beast) misrepresent the report’s findings for a whole week? What sense would that make?

Guys I love you so much, but Mueller didn't say there was no evidence of ~~any crimes~~ collusion, Barr said that. I never believed the report would make much difference anyway, but it's clearer than clear that Barr scuttled the results.

I wrote a game this morning for liberal leaning people in this trying time: https://twitter.com/mx_quinn/status/1111329948948529152?s=21 It feels right to share it here.

Might not be the best idea to reference the “Disappointed Fans of Mueller Rethink the Pedestal They Built for Him” NYTimes article in the title. At “Release the Smollett Report (MSW Daily)” patron-only episode at ~36:50 they briefly discuss it and note the article quoted things that weren’t said. As a listener myself, they aren’t actually the kind of Mueller-or-bust people the podcast title might suggest so your comments there didn’t land.
