News Brief - Reconciliation Bill Negotiations: A Media Autopsy

Comments

A great episode, but I will quibble with your point about the media denigrating the "Progressive" "wish list". The Ruling Class media of COURSE snark about it this way, because they know that the Schumer-Pelosi Corporate Dems will water everything down except subsidies to business & lobbyist favored economic sectors. They're telegraphing that any remnants of the "middle class" and the Poor will never get ANYthing from the corporate shills and the fake, Progressive "Squad" crowd that will always "compromise one way" as Neema said. GOOD on them for rubbing it in the Dem Base's face for supporting a fake Lib elite who will never help anyone who's not directly paying them.

This is what happens when elite educated journalist believe they are a protected class. Any criticism is taken automatically as bad faith and treat it like it was an attack on their profession. The only “valid” criticism is internal and anodyne. The real criticism is reserved exclusively for right wing outlets. They don’t care what’s in the bill because largely it’s irrelevant to them personally. I would bet money that NYT has extremely generous maternal and paternal paid family leave. It reminds me of another news brief during the Summer Uprising in which they covered police shooting less than lethal round on to protestors while a CNN reporter was in the crowd. If you don’t remember the CNN anchor shouted “don’t they know you’re a journalist.” Basically implying if their wasn’t a journalist it would have been fine to engage in a police riot.

Ben Gialenios

The inevitable conclusion of consolidation of media ownership, Reagan deregulation, and the evolution of news consumption to fit advertising-revenue based social media mediums. It’s yet another important function of modern society absolutely corrupted by profit maximization.
