Completely agree. The “terrorism” charges are so outrageous and clearly meant to underline the disparities. Scaring the least vulnerable among us shall have severe consequences, dontcha know. Meanwhile, the most vulnerable better keep swallowing whatever they give us to swallow and be grateful about it.

It’s so much easier to ignore classes that are sooo far distant than one’s own. I agree that Solidarity with people not in the “The Atlantic” isn’t likely to happen anytime soon, to their own peril.

Why is ICE escorting a murder suspect with US birthright citizenship? They choreographed that absurd stunt to look fierce. I would love to know who ordered that? They can't undermine Mangione's popularity. The right wing ghouls so desperately want that murdering pig Daniel Penny to be their folk hero. Thankfully, his grotesque crime was overshadowed by Mangione's bravery. Frankly. Luigi is the folk hero we all needed. I hope his story turns out in his favor and in the favor of humanity. They are scared to death of him and the terrorism charge illustrates that fact. It is not illegal for a slave to kill their master in a just society. I'm reminded of the Krishnamurti quote - "It is no good measure of health to be well-adjusted in a profoundly sick society." I don't condone murder, I also don't condone profiting off the mass suffering of millions. Since money has become "free speech" in this batshit bonkers and totally bullshit political system of ours, citizens are left with few options for real change. Even the Floyd protests accomplished next to nothing in the end. Unfortunately, there is no option remaining but direct action on a grand scale. Like the American War for Independence. We have the numbers, which makes our condition all the more infuriating.

2024-12-22 02:03:30 +0000 UTCMuch appreciation to Citations Needed for this early Festivus airing of the grievances, I needed it after seeing PBS Newshour's Friday December 13th episode. They had an excellent interview with Wendell Potter who spoke about the health insurance company propaganda against universal healthcare, as well as campaign contributions and lobbying. Then on the next segment, the anchor asked David Brooks for his opinion about that, and he said "We don't kill people in this country" and "It seems almost a cartoon of the way some of our politics have drifted with progressive elites on the very extremes going off the fringes" and "[UnitedHealthCare] profit margin is 6 percent, which is low by any corporate standards. Other people in that industry, they have margins of 1 percent" and "The people who are driving up health care costs in this country are, frankly, not the insurance companies. They're the providers. It's the hospitals, it's the doctors" and Ruth Marcus chiming in to say it shows we're a "road rage nation." Mind you, this was the day after Universal Health Coverage Day, which was not mentioned on the Newshour.
