Introduce yourself and explain why you became a part of this project.

Hi everyone! My name is Cody, I'm 22 years old and I am originally from Long Island New York, but I am now living in NYC! A fun fact about me is that I love to read and write and I would describe myself as a nerd.

Why did you become a part of this photo project?

When Ryan first approached me, I was really flattered. If I am being honest, I have never been much for modeling and always had quite a negative perception of myself. Only recently and especially within this shoot did I learn to feel more confident and comfortable with myself.

What was it like being nude on camera for the first time?

Ryan was an absolute king to work with and really cared to make sure that I was comfortable and felt empowered throughout the entire shoot. I have always struggled with the way I look; judging myself as ‘too big’ or ‘unfit’. I have never been quite content with my stomach in particular, but after this shoot and seeing Ryan’s work I have gained a lot more confidence about my body.

What does masculinity mean to you? Do you feel the need to be masculine?

Masculinity for me is often associated femininity. The desire to be one or the other often consumes my time. I have felt judged for at times acting more feminine and it has shaped how I see myself and act with others. Within the past 5 years I have really done a lot of work with myself in dismantling some of the ideals that society places on men to be masculine, exploring with concepts such as jewelry and clothing.

What inspires you as a creative person?

What inspires me the most are people and their emotions. I have always been innately tuned into the emotions of others and I find it imperative to share with others in various modes. Whether that be through writing or more recently, photography.
