Book 3 - Blurb Vote!

It is finally time. After a few weeks of sitting on the various ideas, ruminating and mixing them with my own, and re-reading comments on both Royal Road and Patreon...I've come up with four directions to take Book 3 of Ruinous Return.

I intend to have this poll run through December 15th so that Royal Road readers can also have their input. Once the poll closes, I will start work on the last entry in the main 'bulk' of the series - Lyn's story.

Do not expect that anytime soon, and since it is not going to be my 'active' story (since I'm focusing on the more 'to-market' Dark Matter Ascension), it will receive irregular updates. What I would like to do is write 2 chapters a week for the story, but I cannot commit to anything because (A) I'm still a full-time teacher, and (B) I need to focus on the aforementioned 'to-market' story that could lead to me generating enough income to swap to full-time writing.

So, below you will find the blurbs. Please vote for your desired story direction!

[NOTE: The first part of each blurb is repetitive intentionally.]

[NOTE 2: #2 and #3 are similar to #1, but different, and those changes are summarized in the italics at the end.]

1.)

Lyn Rivers, god-empress of Ghomar, has ruled her Eternal Empire for the past one-thousand years. The realm has flourished under her guidance and control, and she has set her sight on the world of her birth. Earth. But a thousand years on Ghomar is just under a year on Earth. While one world and its inhabitants have changed drastically, the other has remained more or less the same as before.

However, in her efforts to prepare for an invasion of Earth to bring it under her control, she realized too late that mana, the essence that fuels magic itself, was bleeding over from Ghomar to Earth. And this mana found ancient powers.

Forgotten and lost deities. Gods and goddesses, once worshipped and since abandoned, reawaken and emerge. And they do not take kindly to a hostile deity trying to invade. Seeking out vessels to inhabit and imbue with their power, they plan to put up a fight and then rule Earth themselves.

Can Lyn overcome the gods of Earth to bring her utopia to that world? Or will the old gods of that world repel her and instill their own new order?

Banding together and bringing the world under their direct control as in the days of antiquity, they will fight against this invading force.

Can Lyn overcome the gods of Earth to bring her utopia to that world? Or will the old gods of that world repel her and instill their own new order?

(Similar to #1, but instead of each god squaring up with Lyn through chosen vessels, they group up to form a coalition, and try to unite the world governments against Lyn. It would go more into politics than #1).

Forgotten and lost deities. Gods and goddesses, once worshipped and since abandoned, reawaken and emerge. Finding new vessels and forming god cores within them, a new era begins to unfold on Earth. And whilst Lyn could easily crush any one of these new fledgling gods, combined they could rival her power.

Instead, she has to pick and choose. Forge alliances with these new gods, convince them that her rule and oversight is what Earth needs to become a paradise, and then ruin those that stand in her way.

(Similar to #1, but instead of each god squaring up with Lyn through chosen vessels, they are ‘reborn’ and their ‘god cores’ influence their hosts (much like Aelor’s hero cores and Raevan’s Destroyer core changed their hosts).

Her invasion of Earth is efficient and well-planned. Scouts have already infiltrated the world and found willing individuals; those who are ready to swear loyalty to the god-empress in exchange for a mana core. Her champions that will bring the world to its knees, readying it for her coming.

In this vignette-style, concluding entry in Ruinous Return, Lyn’s takeover of Earth will unfold in many locations, involving a new champion in each region. And by the end, she will have achieved her goal.

For who has the might to stand against a god-empress who can create and destroy on a whim?
