Bg, Char, Prop Concept Art + Updates (Origin Story #0)

Hi Patrons,

The past few days I've been streaming the creation of a dozen conceptual pieces for the new animation. I've had ideas for this project in mind for a few years now, so it is quite satisfying to be able to finally get it on paper.

As things scale up for the channel, I'm trying to be even more organized with the planning process. Usually I'd make one or two concept arts, and then jump straight into animating, figuring out the mood along the way.

This time, I'm choosing to consciously produce separate pre-production materials:

- Backgrounds : The story takes place primarily in a "Life Factory", a gigantic shelter composed of several floors. Each floor promotes a flourishing phase of life for the inhabitants. A sense of large scale is important to me - this is not a sweatshop. But the environment should still be daunting and monumental.

- Characters: The primary characters will be Gildedguy and his father (the boss).

- Props: Similar to Story 5, I want to paint a detailed picture of daily life in the factory, so special attention will be given to the characters' personal effects.

Separating assets along these three categories will make it easier for me to communicate with collaborators for when it comes time to pump out panels for the webcomic. I may even have to recruit these illustrators for doing background work in the actual animation!

Current Projects

Story #0's concept art is done. The animatic (visual draft) is 75% done, since I still need to do layouts for the intro. The webcomic is not nearly as progressed as the animation, so I'll be focusing on solidifying the comic's story and then "trimming the fat". Once the size/scope of the project is finalized, I'll be putting together a production plan and start recruiting help! That's what will be on my plate for the next week.

Project ShadowShaw is slowly coming together. I have 5/6 of the required voice recordings, and the moment the last one comes in, I'll be able to piece together the animatic within a few days. It'll be a surprise drop.

Gildedguy V2 Stickers!
