I came to really like the phantom troupe but still believe they should be punished for their crimes. My favorites are chrollo, phinks, nobunaga, paku and shalnark. They are all interesting and there is something to admire about them.

2025-01-09 00:43:13 +0000 UTCI agree going down the path of revenge is not good and I liked the way it ended. Criminals should be punished but not through revenge. Thats one of the roles of authority/government. The negative actions will affect our psych and we would have to go through the consequences of say harming, torturing or killing your enemies. Ive learned through experience even the negative consequences of wrong/bad actions that only affect our self/life is hard to see through or face until we can see the othersude again. even if we are taking consistant actions to reverse the damage of our bad actions to ourselves the patience needed to get back to a good state or even close to how we were before we did the wrong is very hard, but it's worth it to preserve otherwise it will lead to cycle of inadequacy and worse despair. It's easier to distract yourself from the pain that is why I'll always believe no enemy can be greater than my own lower self. I geuss that may say alot about my lower experence of abuse from others so I still know we can abuse people which can cause debilitating influences on their lives but I've felt the most psychological and emotional pain from my own actions.

2024-02-23 02:41:00 +0000 UTCI'm running a bit behind this week so tomorrow will be the final HxH for the week and then Steins Gate for the 2 days following

2024-02-23 02:37:00 +0000 UTCODIS, that was what someone said about them, yeah, but 1) I don't think the Troupe said that themselves, and 2) that just pushes it back one step. Why did they need the eyes?

2024-02-22 17:48:33 +0000 UTCIt might turn out that the Kurta were not so great themselves. After getting a close look at the phantom troupe for so long hard to believe they'd go out of their way to kill an entire group of people "just because"

2024-02-22 15:47:14 +0000 UTCits always the end of the arcs that are my favorite.

2024-02-22 12:42:44 +0000 UTCFrom your talk about how immensely negative emotions can lead to positive outcomes we can now clearly tell that you don't use Nen© but rather Cursed Energy©.

2024-02-22 12:00:05 +0000 UTCIt's an interesting translation. Word for word, the original was "Paku was grateful to you" (in other words, emphasis on what she felt, not on the idea that she wanted to do something about it later. I'm not sure if I can pinpoint the moment when she accepted her death, but I think it was quite a bit before that interaction with Gon and Killua)

2024-02-22 04:11:26 +0000 UTCI remember being overwhelmed with two questions while watching this: why did the Phantom Troupe massacre the Kurta people? Was it something to do with the Kurta people themselves, or were they just a tool for something else? In comparison to that, the act of slaughtering most of the world's mafia and stealing all of their stuff (seemingly for the thrill of it?) is relatively easy to accept. Especially now that we see that the Troupe is composed of people with motives and multiple types of internal compasses, it just really makes me wonder what would drive them to genocide? We do not get an answer here. In fact, we don't even get the question from Kurapika, which was always surprising, but I guess Kurapika wasn't ever looking to forgive them, so understanding their motives might be irrelevant. The other, much less interesting question was what Gon's plan could possibly be.

2024-02-22 03:49:48 +0000 UTCI was wondering why I hadn't gotten a new video notification for a while then I realized I hadn't renewed my membership. Now I get to binge up to the Greed Island Arc

2024-02-22 03:33:18 +0000 UTCFor such an abrupt end to an arc, it’s amazing that it works as well as it does. This episode alone skyrocketed Paku’s character for me, and of course it had to come at the cost of her life. At least we had her Hunterpedia last episode, so no Obituarypedia today. The Phantom Troupe are to me, the best antagonist group out there, and this arc as a whole is fantastic. I think it’s the fact that Togashi never tries to hide the fact that they do horrible things, that ends up making the interactions amongst the group feel so organic. The scene where Gon points out to Nobunaga the hypocrisy in crying over a friend’s death, when they’ve dealt so much of it themselves is one of the best scenes on this topic. The fact that many of them do care deeply about each other despite all their killing is very humanizing. Then coming to this episode, it’s incredible to me that the reason Kurapika’s plan even ends up working is because of Paku’s care for Chrollo. As Melody pointed out, if the Troupe truly were heartless monsters, the whole plan would fall apart. It's rare to see an act of self sacrifice from an antagonist handled this well, yet Paku's sacrifice somehow feels perfect. While some momentarily had doubts, fearing the chance she was being controlled, Nobunaga came out with the “Have some faith, it’s Paku”, knowing full well that trusting her there could cost them their lives, yet they chose to trust her anyway. And finally coming to Hisoka, who in fact, was not doing that, as instead we witnessed the blue ball of the century. It’s hilarious to me that after literal years of planning that he did to reach that point, he can’t even have a proper fight. Sometimes even Hisoka can’t win in every situation I guess. I could easily go on for another few paragraphs, but it’s now time to live Togashi’s dream of playing Dragon Quest— I mean Greed Island! You’ll finally get to join the rest of us in thinking “Why the hell is there no Hunter x Hunter RPG?”

2024-02-22 02:44:26 +0000 UTCI love this arc so much. I love the next arcs so much too, but this one might be my overall favorite. There are so many sides to the game being played, and the writing is so good at interweaving them all. Can't wait for Greed Island though!!

2024-02-22 02:39:30 +0000 UTCI forgot that Killua's brother acted as a decoy for Hisoka. Also, "What are you?"

2024-02-22 02:29:31 +0000 UTCnow that we got to my fave moment of the arc. i would really love your reaction to Paku's death in the original anime. that ost, the lighting and the animation just suit the grunginess of this arc so much better imo. of course, i prefer the newer HxH anime overall but i think there are certain scenes that are just unreal in the original! would def recommend just going on youtube and watching the Paku death moment :)
