Adaptation wise this arc does work better in the manga as you have the time to linger on a page with the card description. The anime can only do soo much and can’t slow the pacing down to crawl so that can you can read, which is totally understandable. Of course you can just pause the episode but how many people watching HxH do that.

It's a bit overwhelming when they just flash them on screen for a second and then move on, but at least they all actually do something. It's clear there was a lot of thought put into Greed Island, both from a writing perspective as well as an in-universe perspective.

So the more good luck you roll, the worse the bad luck will be once it eventually lands on it. That's what's so terrifying about continuously rolling it
