The idea that the strongest(?) hunter we know of in Netero is coming into this presumably an underdog to not only the big bad, but to any of his 3 guards as well. I think the early part of the Namek saga in Dragonball Z was the last time I remember a power discrepancy of the villains to the heroes being this much of a leap, without there being a stand-out presence on the side of the good guys who could give them any real trouble. Literally just a duck and hide, running, trying to survive until Goku gets there 500 episodes later. Except in HxH there is no Goku on the way.
