I know Fruits Basket is incredibly popular so I know it must be good, but I couldnt bring myself to keep watching, so I did go to Goodwin's reaction but the fact it was in dub kinda put me off it :/ you might have convinced me to give it another go though so thank you :)

Yes, I do think Fruits Basket (2019 version) is slightly better overall as a anime than Frieren, albeit they are both 10/10 masterpiece’s. Goodwin did a full reaction series on the patreon too Fruits Basket and other than the fact he watched it in dub it was the best react series he has ever done by far. No other show has garnered such discussion on here before, every Fruits Basket episode had 60+ comments with loads of people talking. Season 3 of Fruits Basket is one of the highest rated anime of all time on MyAnimeList, I believe it is still in the top 15. So it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that someone thinks its one of the best anime ever made. Haha yes, the boys in Fruits Basket are not like boys in real life… and maybe that’s a bad thing? Lol. Fruits Basket is a Shoujo anime, meaning it’s intended audience is young Japanese girls, not adult western males like ourselves. This is why the male characters may seem so weird to you, they do act a lot more feminine than real life men. If you do encounter a real life Kyo, please don’t bully him.

I loved every ep of Frieren but I find Fruits Basket so hard to sit through lol, it just feels so corny sometimes, and all the dudes feel like they're artificially impossibly cool when realistically they'd be bullied off the face of the planet, but that is just me. I loved Kaguya though

2024-05-27 03:22:10 +0000 UTCThree random points: 1) I'm genuinely unsure if it's a yet-to-be-revealed plot point or just a meaningless detail, but the hypnotist loud-talker who looks like a young girl speaks like a very old woman. She says stuff like "ja no" instead of modern Japanese "da yo na" and refers to herself as "washi" (just a 1st person pronoun that means "I'm old", haha). 2) Yes, the leaf wall was looking pretty shoddy, but luckily he has that infinite create-a-field-of-flowers spell to replenish the stock (inefficiently, but still). 3) The woman who hugs Frieren testing for vulnerability is quietly quite the badass, blasting through walls and providing all sorts of special situation abilities. Underappreciated, I think.

2024-05-27 02:01:17 +0000 UTCYeah really just gotta pray the same Director is brought on with the same team and budget/time to make Season Two because there most definitely will be another season considering the popularity. That Director debuted with his first series, "Bocchi the Rock", another one of my all time favorites just a little over a year ago. And now he comes out with this, it's incredible. Fans of both shows just want him to be able to continue to direct both but he will need lots of time, freedom, and flexibility to do so which are three things that don't exist in large amounts within the Japanese animation industry.

It will unfortunately be a long time until you watch something as good or better than this show, probably. IMO you’ve only reacted to 3 better anime’s (Fruits Basket, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, in that order). And as far as I know you’ve only seen two other anime’s better than Frieren that you didn’t do reactions for (Cowboy Bepop and Neon Genesis Evangelion). Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is one of my all time favorites, if you can’t tell. It’s an elite series, and it completely mogs FMAB as the highest rated anime of all time on MyAnimeList, not that it actually means anything. But it does show the outpouring of love from so many people that exists for this character.
