2024-06-09 01:54:48 +0000 UTCWhatever floats your boat. While I agree the arc has some pacing issues (a lot of the Palm stuff and an elevator come immediately to mind), this section isn't part of that for me. I love the King and Morel stuff.

2024-06-08 20:48:34 +0000 UTCOne thing I really do appreciate from HxH is that Togashi likes to take his time developing the characters and their interactions before going into the fights. This makes the fights later on so much more meaningful and not just for the sake of “oh, this is a battle shounen so there should be action all the time, right?” It’s even more like this after this arc and also the current arc in the manga. I understand that these build-ups may not be for everyone (people who just wanna turn their brains off and enjoy mindless action), but the climaxes are always so much better thanks to them.

2024-06-08 13:59:35 +0000 UTCIt’s interesting to see how the King is slowly changing as the episodes progress because of Gungi.

2024-06-08 06:24:03 +0000 UTCSomething I love about the king that is shown here is that he is not afraid to hold himself to his own crazy high standards. He has this ideal of what superiority does and doesn’t look like but it’s not all fluff. Not saying I agree with him, but it’s really fun to see such an absolutist also apply his philosophy to himself without making up excuses.

2024-06-08 04:36:39 +0000 UTCVery interesting how similar the themes are for the King and for the Haikyuu character with the same voice actor, Tsukishima.

2024-06-08 02:12:45 +0000 UTCThe idea of focusing on living up to ideals and goals set on oneself has been especially relevant to me recently. A few months ago the power was out all day, and I decided to take a walk around my local area. I’m not in the best shape, so it’s not something I’d commonly do. Afterwards I’d realized that I actually really enjoyed it, and have now either gone on walks or gotten some other physical activity in every single day for months now. It’s something so simple, but the fact that I was able to motivate myself to become more active on a whim feels much better than if I’d done it for the sake of another’s impression on me. I also have a good friend that loves to hike, and while I used to frequently turn down his offers, I now go much more often. It’s a side effect that I honestly didn’t even consider when I first became more active, but I don’t think I’d have been able to do it consistently if the drive wasn’t of my own personal desire.
