It would have been great if they had included the child references

Alex G

That's our Pouf. He's a man of ideas, or something. He never really explained

Alex G

I get very distracted trying to understand the strategies and terms, haha. I'm like, wait... I have no idea what the archer or the shinobi does. Explain!

Ryan

Sorry, but for whatever reason, I had a lot of language nerd comments this episode. :/ 8:40 "A lot of focus on rhythm" -- interestingly, while Shaiapouf does say that Komugi's "rhythm" (リズム) is disrupted at 9:35, the word the King says in Japanese isn't "rhythm" at all, but rather 呼吸, 'kokyuu' or "breathing." (It is indeed the same word as in 'mizu no kokyuu' (Water Breathing, from Demon Slayer)). So, the King is saying he's going to disrupt her breath. Same thing at 22:45, the King says that it's his own 'breathing' that's disrupted. At 10:30, I thought it was a nice detail for the anime that they added the kanji for the King's very academic word for "dead end" 死路 in the background. It's pronounced 'shiro,' but in speech it sounds just like the (much more common) word "white" 白, so if you didn't include the background kanji, it'd be super confusing just listening. Like, "you knew this was [white], and you didn't say anything" ?? As in, you knew it was Komugi's piece? Manga readers wouldn't have needed that clarification, but nice that they put it in for us. In the English subtitles, the idea of describing a strategy as a 子 or "child" is only revealed at the end of Komugi's speech at 13:00, but in Japanese, that's how Komugi describes it throughout. For example, at 12:05, she says that she was really proud to have "given birth" to that child (which they subtitle as "coming up with the strategy"). At 12:15 they have her saying "I was also the one who saw how to defeat it." In Japanese, she says "I'm also the one who killed the child." (Perhaps explaining why they avoided those words for the US audience?)

"This should have no significance" Pouf says 30 seconds after some really significant shit happens.. Classic Pouf

Pike vs Cheetu in a gungi 1v1 would have me entertained for days hahaha

Sam B

It is interesting though that Knov's portal room is very Portal like, with its light blank paneled walls.

Sam B

Pike?

Anya Mcghee

Honestly the gungi parts are some of my favorite parts of the whole arc. I could watch a supercut of just them

Sunny

Cheetu in the community is known for being like the stupidest character in the show😂

Ryan

It's interesting because Nen abilities can be a double edged sword because they reflect the users inner self and even past experiences. Someone who is really good at manipulation can use that against them which I think has already been done before on some occasions but I just now made the connection. People who see Killua's lightning ability can guess what kind of childhood he's had and anyone who has met Gon for more than 5 seconds knows he's an Enhancer.

Anya Mcghee

agreed! the Gungi games are soooo interesting to watch, even with everything else going on
