I am currently on the final boss experiencing hell on earth. Been like 7 hours.

Jak

Interesting, doesn't seem that fast by itself. Though I don't really know how to way the prayer part time wise

Alex G

Nice explanation. :) I always thought it was a little strange that the subtitles used the Chinese name. In Japanese, "Guanyin" is pronounced Kannon, and you can see the representation of Kannon-sama in many temples throughout Japan, probably most famously in Kyoto's "Sanjuusangendou," where there are 1001 individually crafted statues of Kannon in the main hall. At 13:40 in the video, just to really come full circle with Demon Slayer, the word Netero says that they translate as "Amen" is "Namu," the beginning of many mantras.

"Lady Guanyin" is what the karate master said after seeing Netero's punch. Killua's Grandpa called Netero's ability "100 Guanyin Bodhisattva". Guanyin in Buddhism is the bodhisattva of compassion. Bodhisattvas are enlightened beings who chose to stay on earth as accessible examples for Buddhist faithful to follow. When he saw Netero's punch he recognized that it was basically "embodying" that gratitude/compassion that Netero trained with everyday, and he cried as a result.

So it begins. Jumping on the narrator bandwagon, but his presence in this part of the arc is part of what makes it so unique. It has a specific kinda dramatic feel to it that you normally wouldn’t expect from a visual medium. My favorite narrator line of the whole show is “The countless dragons that rained down were less significant threats than the humans in the sky.” You just couldn’t have dialogue like that without a narrator, and here it perfectly sets the tone for what to expect from Netero. People love to talk about “show don’t tell” in storytelling, and generally it’s for a good reason, but for the most part, Hunter x Hunter is the perfect example of how the opposite can be amazing.

Since I was curious: 10,000 prayer/punches in 1 hour would be roughly 2.7 prayer/punches per second.

Pitou smile when she see the enemys is so fun, funny enough if she was pouf she wouldnt put her EN to the sky neither dispell it to fight, she loves the king yes but her way to do so is very different, maybe that's why you started to root for her on the end you can respect someone that take those risks and is strong enough to still be on the fight

Just spent the last couple hours on a boss I was probably underleveled for. 10/10

Goodwin will be a Narrator-sama truther like the rest of us

Netero was out there for at least four years. At two years he started to notice that the sun was still up when he completed. At four years (Started at age 46, completed his metamorphosis at age 50) he completed the 10,000 gratitude punches in under an hour. Which is insane that he cut his 18 hours down to 12ish during the first two years, and then managed to cut the 12ish hours to less than 1 hour in the next two years. Crazy! The man's a monster, and this episode always gives me chills at a few points throughout it. I love the art of Pitou dropping with her arms outstretched as she watches Dragon Dive cover the castle. SO GOOD

Anyone else up Shadowing their Erdtree?

I love the idea of reaching your peak in any field and having that much gratitude for it. I feel like after a certain amount of time people tend to become jaded at that level

The narrator can be jarring at first because you want to jump right in, but I think it adds a unique element to the invasion. Don’t worry though it reduces heavily after a few eps I think, I mean this long invasion can’t all be in .25 speed!

Ryan

So when the palace invasion thing ends you should check out this video on YouTube that condenses the whole slew of episodes down into real time, it's astonishing how densely packed with things this is, and how slowed down they had to take it for the audience to fully grasp everything.

Fudgemancookie

It's hard to have dialogue when everything is happening in 0.05 seconds 😂

Alex G

Say hello to your new favourite character, the narrator!

Jo

it’s finally here 🫶
