Hunter x Hunter Episode 118 Reaction Extended (YT link below)

In Hunter x Hunter 118, A x False x Rage, this one's for Shoot, and this one's for Shoot, and this one's for Shoot, and this one... also for Shoot, and this one... I'm not sure anymore but damn it feels good.

Common depictions of the Japanese lightning and thunder gods Raijin and Fuujin. They often have Taiko drums on their backs that are meant to be like the rumbling of thunder when they are beat and you can find depictions of them across media like the Pokemon Thundurus and Enel from One Piece

Knuckle is a great character indeed. Can't wait for more Goodwin!

Yes, little did we know, but this 13-year-old from Kukuroo mountain is very well-versed in ancient Japanese language and Shinto mythology. It was part of his training, while he was a child being electrocuted and poisoned and learning how to play darts. (That said, it's been a long time since I've seen Ep119, so I'll have to wait until it's posted to see whether it's specifically Fuujin and Raijin or other kami referenced)

That answers a question I had in the following episode about why there's an image of what looks like mythological thunder creatures.

[Aside: that dog in the end screen is thinking over some pretty heavy stuff, haha] Anyway, Killua's attack, which they call "thunderbolt," is pronounced "narukami." That's what people back about 1000-1400 years ago called "lightning," but not really since then, haha. It's as if Killua is summoning the power of ancient ancestors or something. The word naru-kami 鳴神 literally means "cry of the Gods." (One of the modern words for lightning can be traced back to that same source: "Kaminari" as in the MHA character, although both the character's name and the modern word for lightning use different kanji than Killua's attack)

Knuckle, like Thorfinn has no enemies. Not because he’s a pacifist, but because literally no one can bring themselves to dislike him.

I love that the first thing Killua does after separating from Gon is help Knuckle. I couldn’t imagine how he feels not being able to help Gon right now. It just feels right to me that it was Killua that saved Knuckle. Also, as the narrator pointed out last episode, Knuckle’s plan should have worked, but unfortunately Youpi suddenly gained the introspection skill. I’d much rather it have gone down the way it did then to have Knuckle arbitrarily change his plan, or miraculously escape from his near death experience. As much as I’d wanted Knuckle to succeed on his own at that moment, it just wouldn’t have been realistic. But man, hearing Knuckle cheer after hitting him 8 times put the largest smile on my face lol.
