2024-07-10 20:55:22 +0000 UTCOne thing I absolutely love about this arc is Youpi. He’s presented as the “brawn” of the royal guard, and even when they first entered the palace the narrator mentioned he “ceased all thought in order to deal with the threat before him.” But the longer the battle goes on, the more intelligence we get to see him possess. When it comes to this whole fight, he’s been EXTREMELY analytical, and been able to adapt his theories to how he fights on the fly. It’s so fascinating to watch him

2024-07-10 17:10:15 +0000 UTCAll due respect, you got no fuckin' idea what it's like to be Number One. Every decision you make affects every facet of every other fuckin' thing. It's too much to deal with almost. And in the end you're completely alone with it all.

2024-07-10 16:05:36 +0000 UTCbecause no one mentioned it yet, the ''oni'' figures at the start where Killua's ability is explained are Raijin and Fujin, the god of thunder and the god of wind. Together with godspeed Killua really leaned into having god like powers with those names.

2024-07-10 03:35:59 +0000 UTCTwo language nerd comments: 1. I love how the expression Brovuda uses at 16:15 for "I'll riddle you with bullets" is 蜂の巣にしてやる (hachi-no-su ni shite-yaru), literally: "I'll turn you into a beehive." (Since beehives are full of holes) I don't know why, but I really enjoy those metaphors that don't translate well. Like, just imagine if they had kept it as "I'll turn you into a beehive." I think a lot of people watching would've been very confused, haha. 2. The title card again. It's "strong x or x weak," but the way it's spaced out makes the pun very salient. (I'm going to omit the x's because it makes it harder to get the pun, but I guess just make sure they're there in your heart): Normal ("strong or weak"): tsuyoi ka yowai ka Title: tsuyo ika yowa ika Which means "strong squid, weak squid." :) (Although, obviously the 'strong or weak' thing applies just as much to Yuupi figuring out what 'strength' is and Morel/Pouf's situation, while the squid pun is much more focused on "ika-lgo" specifically) ------ There's a good word in statistics for the notion that something isn't exactly "random," but where there are so many factors and interactions between them that it may as well be random to any non-omniscient observer. We call those "stochastic processes," and while it's mostly used in the field just as an excuse for measurement error, I think it has much more potential for awe and insight on reflection, like Alex was saying.

2024-07-10 03:18:29 +0000 UTCI like the Ikalgo plotline, as it shows that even the smallest conflict in this battle is just as important as the biggest and everyone is doing their part. I’m glad Chimera Ant didn’t come out today. Fans nowadays are so reactive with the weekly releases and need instant gratification. Fans like would hate plot lines like the one with Ikalgo.
